The Greatest Rock and Roll Band In The World – Shine A Light

I got invited to the Premiere for this movie and to the day I die I will regret that I didn’t go, even though I only had one days notice.

I watched it last night, in all the glory that High Definition does for live stage performances.  To see the look of satisfaction on Christina Aquilerras face as she performs on stage with The Rolling Stones is almost as telling as seeing the look of satisfaction on Keith Richards face as he performs on stage with Buddy Guy.

This is  not so much a documentary on The Rolling Stones as much as it is a documentary  on this one performance, But Scorceses finely crafted movie making interspersed with interview clips from as far back as the 1960s give you a real sense of why the band has had the longevity they have.

In one clip from the early 70s Dick Cavett asks Mick Jagger if he could still see himself “doing this at 60” Jaggers answer was “Yes”

In another Keith Richards is asked who is the better guitarist himself or Ron Wood and he answers: “neither one of us is very good but together we are better than ten others”

In another Richards says “We love what we are doing”

And that is why The Rolling Stones are The Greateast Rock and Roll Band in the World.
