Pregnant Porn Stars and Parenting – A Lesson From Emma Hix and Lena The Plug

pregnant porn stars

Before we discuss pregnant porn stars, we want to say congratulations to both Emma Hix and Lena the Plug for being shining examples of how porn stars are people. What do we mean by this?

When the term ‘porn star’ is used, few think about the personhood of the performer. In fact, if it is mentioned that a porn star has kids, hurtful phrases crop up.

“Do you know who the father is?” (this makes no sense… pregnant porn stars know how they got that way and more about birth control than the average person) or
“There goes your body…”
and our staff’s personal favorite “They are going to grow up ashamed!”

Enter Emma Hix and Lena the Plug. Announcing their pregnancies, showing their belly growth, and detailing everything a non-porn influencer goes through as they are with child. Brushing off the slew of nasty comments, they showed the world how they are no different than any other parent. Sexual desires are a natural part of the human experience but porn stars are more than just their content. Despite popular belief, porn stars aren’t fucking everyone every minute of the day.

Porn stars go to theme parks and grocery stores. Adult stars get their oil changed and do their laundry. Porn stars have friends and families. Want to know one of the ways porn stars go about having families? Actually making them.

One of the criticisms lobbied against porn stars having families/children revolves around the availability of porn on the internet. Many feel that even if the adult film star manages their child’s internet usage appropriately, what happens when the child goes to school with other children who do find the content. Unlike many of the other ‘concerns’ detractors will use, this one is understandable but easily debunked.

Sure a child of a porn star could be made fun of but really, kids are mean. We know this. No matter what you do, your child will be picked on for some aspect or another. We have to learn how to cope/ teach our children the coping skills on how to overcome. Furthermore, there are no studies or factual evidence of children of prior stars having MORE issues than children of parents of any other profession.

The truth is, porn stars do not expose their children to adult material. Pamela Anderson’s son has spoken about having a mother who was in Playboy and is successful and loved. Many of the most successful people in the world have parents that they knew were strippers at some point. It wasn’t traumatic for them. Every parent on the planet has done something that a child could be made fun of, every parent on the planet has done something they would prefer their child to find out later in life (if at all).

For sex work to be taken seriously, we need to have examples of how pregnant porn stars and parents navigate the landscape and to that, we thank you Emma Hix and Lena the Plug. The light you are showing on how normal being a porn star with family is, allows for others to come out of the shadows.

  1. Jesus, how many Xs is “porn star” going to be mentioned? Vanessa Del Rio, Ron Jeremy, Nina Hartley and Sasha Grey are/were pornstars. Non viewers could recognize their names. Emma Hix has great performances but she’s a porn chick. Not porn star. She won’t be on a hit HBO series or reality show on the CW anytime soon.
