I found an interesting post on Reddit today that I thought deserves a little spotlight. Despite having only been posted 10 hours ago, it’s already gotten almost 35,000 upvotes with nearly 6,000 comments.
Legal age for Porn stars should be 21 not 18
The only reason why this hasn’t ever even been a topic politically or any other means is because men love porn and men love young attractive looking women. You have to be 21 years to buy alcohol, to buy cigarettes now too but its okay to legally to be fucked on camera by a 50+ year old dude when you literally just turned 18. Its disgusting. Can any parent say that they truly believe it should be their 18 year olds right to make money in such an industry? If the country thinks your too young to buy alcohol and cigarettes you just might be too young to be a porn star.
Edit: Honestly was not sure if this was going to blow up or not. I want to clarify some things I do not think men or women or rather teenagers are fully developed within their brain to be able to make such a decision to join the industry upon literally just turning 18. I am the furthest thing from a sexist as some people wanted to say. I love ALL people!!
I also believe to join the military the age should be older than 18.
To be completely honest the post should have read “the legal age to join porn or the military should be age 25” – when the average adult brain has reached its full development and is more able to make such a decision that you must be mentally and emotionally capable of understanding all possible outcomes and have developed ways to cope with stress before you jump right into either job which is full of stressors.

If we’re starting to compare legal ages, it’ll never end. Legal age to vote is 18. Age of consent (to sex) is 16 in several states. That’s right, in about 17 states in the US, it’s legal for 16-year-olds to do the nasty with 80-year-old men. Here’s your fainting couch.
Those puritans who recoil at the thought of some 18-year-old doing it with a 50-year-old dude in front of a camera, let me ask you something: If one of these 18-year-olds wasn’t doing it in front of the camera, what do you think she’d be doing instead? I’ll tell you what: she’d be putting out to some neighborhood loser instead that her dad would hate just as much. Just part of a string of on-and-off, shaky relations with other losers. Only difference is, she wouldn’t be making money off of those losers.
They want to create a society of bums. Close off avenues for the youths, so we’re left with just more useless ne’er-do-wells who do drugs and riot instead of getting paychecks. Hey, you think 18 is too young? Well, people pick their colleges at 17, which can set the tone and type of career for the rest of their lives. If people want to be productive and chase those dollars, I won’t get in their way. Hell, I think some of those child labor laws are too restrictive when it comes to teenagers.
