Falcon Studios Digitally Removes Condoms in New Release

One would think this would be a viable alternative for straight porn as well.

From NewNowNext.com

The adult-movie industry has long grappled with the issue of condoms, especially gay porn companies. Even studios that want to be socially responsible claim their audiences gravitate toward bareback videos. (Michael Lucas, long a critic of bareback videos recently filmed his first condom-free movie.)

Of course there are those studios that remain steadfast in their commitment to condom-only videos. One of them, Falcon Studios, has just come up with an interesting strategy:  They’ve digitally removed the condoms from their newest film, California Dreamin’ 1, giving them the appearance of bareback sex.

In an interview wit GayPornBlog (NSFW), director Tony DiMarco described Dreamin’ as “a throwback to the classic, pre-condom Falcon poolside movies” popular in the 1970s and ’80s. (Falcon has used condoms in all its scenes since the late 80s).

Says DiMarco:

With this movie I really wanted to capture the essence of that time, when life seemed more carefree and spontaneous. In keeping with this concept, I felt that condoms need to be addressed. I wanted to give the impression of a pre-condom movie, but use condoms as we do in every scene we film. I found a way to film the movie safely and effectively, while giving the experience that I had intended and using the hottest modern stars.

Is this the solution to preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS in the porn business? And what about viewers—will  ”Photoshopped” porn encourage actual unsafe sex among consumers?

  1. “… will ”Photoshopped” porn encourage actual unsafe sex among consumers?”

Good luck coming up with a controlled study to demonstrate this true. Even if it were, so what? The responsibility of practicing safe sex falls on the couple, no one else.

  2. Wow this is an interesting breakthrough….do you know if anyone has tried this before?…. anything that increases performer safety makes me happy…seems win win,… but it’s a good question about role modeling… hmmm…. I’m thinking if it becomes popular to photoshop the consumer may just start to think all porn uses this technique…true or not…and safe sex with condoms, though not seen, will be the understanding….
