Brandon Ashton stands accused of being a crossover. For those that don’t understand the term, it means anyone who performs in both mainstream and the gay and/or transsexual market.
I did some research and have only found 4 scenes in his past that some people may question. He did four scenes, all solo (meaning he jacked himself off) which appeared on gay male websites. You can’t argue that he himself had gay sex or sex with anyone because in each of the four scenes in question he only had sex with himself.
He never once had sex with another man (not even a blowjob) so how can you really say he’s a crossover? Funny thing is, he was condemned int he gay community for not being gay. As one commenter put it “He’s hot, but unless he’s fucking another guy, then who cares”.
And here we are now calling him gay because he played with his own penis on camera and those scenes appeared on a gay website. Interesting. So does that mean all those straight guys in porn who play with themselves on webcam, knowing men are watching, does that make them secretly gay too?
But that isn’t really what this argument is about. I just wanted to sort of defend a guy that was getting heat for something he didn’t do.
It all began last night when August Ames tweeted that she canceled a scheduled scene she had with EroticaX because she didn’t want to be with the male performer thinking he was a crossover.
Alexis Monroe tried to defend the guy saying he wasn’t a crossover but what she was saying wasn’t heard because everyone was too busy fighting about the decision August Ames made int he first place.
What August Ames did sparked a firestorm of tweets on all sides of the argument including Jessica Drake coming out trying to shame August Ames for exercising her right to say no.
Here’s my problem with what Jessica Drake has done. Just because you are offended by what August Ames may have said, doesn’t trump her right to free speech and more importantly her right to say no.
SHAME ON YOU JESSICA DRAKE FOR TRYING TO BULLY SOMEONE JUST BECAUSE YOU DON’T AGREE WITH HER!
A performers right to decide what she wants to do with her body is one of the very core principles in our industry.
HER BODY, HER RIGHT!
A porn performer can put anyone on their no list for ANY reason and she doesn’t even have to give a reason. That’s her right. That’s just how our industry works. You can’t force someone to bang someone they don’t want to, although that doesn’t stop some people from trying to shame you into it.
I’m sure many of you will recall Bella Rose a few months ago infamously said she chose not to do interracial scenes. In fact, Alexis Texas made the same decision and Taylor Rain before her and I think Hanna Hilton also had the same policy during her short-lived career.
None of them ever said (to my knowledge) that they had anything against black people, simply that they were choosing to exercise their right to say no.
Yet despite the fact that they should have the right to say who they do and don’t want to have sex with they got brutally harassed for it. Things were so bad for Alexis Texas at one point, she was being bullied on TMZ for her decision. How sad is that?
See here is the thing … we may not agree with their decisions but they every right to make them.
August Ames made a decision early on in her career that she didn’t feel comfortable having sex on camera with men who also had sex with other men. You don’t have to agree with her, but it’s her right to do whatever she wants with her body and by trying to shame her for making a decision about who she wants to have sex with makes you a bully.
You have every right to your own views, but again getting offended by her decision about who she wants to have sex with doesn’t trump her right to free speech and her right to decide what she wants to do with her own body.
Trying to bully her about her decision only makes you the bad guy.
Don’t be that person who tries to bully someone into changing their minds just because you don’t agree with them.
If a performer doesn’t want to do IR or have sex with a crossover, that’s their right. You can be offended or not like it all you want, but to try and bully or shame a person into changing their minds only goes against everything we try and stand for in the adult industry – FREEDOM OF CHOICE!
- You have the right to say no.
- They have the right to say no.
- That’s just how it works.

I cant believe this is even an issue really nobody should ever have to work with anyone that they dont want to and Jessica Drake and others should be at the front of the line of people supporting this after all Im sure she has a no list…or maybe someone should tell her she has to work with me…not that I’d hit that but you get my point…..If you don’t like a performers because she wont work with white guys, black guys, yellow guys, gay guys, dogs, cats, donkeys, Ron Jeremy or space aliens…theres a simple solution…dont buy her product……Shame on Jessica shame shame shame…..
I’d even go a step further, and say: don’t assume you know why they said no either. While they are under no obligation to divulge, there are plenty of cases where it isn’t “the stigma” (as a side note, it would be interesting to amass some hard data on any increase of risk) or “racism”. But regardless, this should be an inalienable right, high above shaming and presuming you know their minds.
Actually, I also volunteer to teach Jessica Drake a lesson here, Mike. You are actually an experienced performer. I haven’t ever been in an adult film, have a four inch dick that barely works at times, am 450 pounds and not a young person. Also, make it part of the scene that Jessica has to be tied to the bed on her stomach so I can fuck her ass with a Mount Everest sized dildo (since I can’t really teach her a lesson with my dick) and then make her submit to a Gag Factor with Johnny Thrust.
I didn’t know August nor was I really a fan but I certainly didn’t hate her unlike many over the last few days. RIP August.
