What is the average porn star life expectancy?

Religious zealots would have you believe the average porn star’s lifespan is 37.43. I knew that number wasn’t correct but I wanted to prove it.

This all began with a man by the name of Rev. Daniel R. Jennings who put together a list of 129 porn stars who have died and he asked the question. So what is the accurate porn star life expectancy?

“Is the average life expectancy of a pornographic actor significantly lower than the rest of the population?”

Despite what he may have you believe the answer is no.  A porn star life expectancy gets interesting and contrary to the anti-porn zealots.

The problem with this man’s data was that it only included 129 porn stars, of all of which are dead. That’s not how you calculate average life expectancy. Incorrectly calling the average age at death (37.43 years) the “life expectancy” gives a very misleading and pessimistic picture.

The life expectancy of a person who lives in the US is 78.54 years of age.

Life expectancy is a statistical measure of the average time an organism is expected to live, based on the year of their birth, their current age, and other demographic factors including gender.

But how about for the average pornographic actress? Luckily for me, I have a database of thousands of porn stars. Before I sold Fame Registry, I had collected data on thousands of porn stars including dates of birth, and dates of death, so we can use my database of porn stars to do some math.

Now not all of them had the data we needed for the study so I had to pull out all the ones that didn’t have a specific date of birth listed or a partial birthday. In other words, we only wanted to include those porn stars that had a month/day/year listed for their birthday. Sadly this information isn’t always readily available so this brought our numbers down to a study of 4,471 porn stars. That’s still a respectable amount of data and if what the religious zealots say is true we should be able to prove it with that many porn stars, right?

The youngest of the 4,471 porn stars is 18, the oldest is 92. These are mainstream performers, who starred in actual movies for established producers, not amateurs, not webcam girls. The database only includes female performers. I don’t track males, or other genres of porn like transgendered, BBW, or the gay genres. This data includes all manner of deaths including cancer, suicide, drug overdose, murder, etc. I didn’t leave anything out. I thought to be fair we needed to include death by all means.

Of the 4,471, forty-one of them have died. Of the 41 that died here are the ages at their death.

Of the 41 porn stars in the database who died, the average age of death was 32.049. But what about all the thousands of other porn stars who are alive?

But all I could do was do my calculations based on the information I had at hand. I think the sample size was large enough to show that what the anti-porn people are saying just isn’t true.
