Florida woman arrested for placing porn-filled plastic Easter eggs in mailboxes

Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 42-year-old Florida woman for placing more than 400 plastic Easter eggs along with pamphlets containing pornographic images — as well as a goldfish cracker, a packet of drink mix and a piece of toilet paper — in local mailboxes beginning on April 4.

Abril Cestoni, 42, did not have symptoms of coronavirus, and, when asked by deputies, said she was not trying to spread the virus by distributing the eggs and pamphlets, according to her arrest report.

When caught, Cestoni “made several incoherent statements and rants about the church and local clergy” and “stated that she included the images because homosexuals are allowed to _____ each in the church,” the Palm Coast Observer reported.

Deputies caught Cestoni on April 8 after getting multiple calls that day from people who’d seen a woman placing the eggs in their mailboxes.

Callers noted that she was driving a 2004 silver Honda Civic, and the Sheriff’s Office’s Problem Area Crime Enforcement Unit, called PACE, searched the area recent reports were coming from in Palm Coast’s R-Section and found the car heading north on Belle Terre Parkway at Whiteview Parkway at 11:19 p.m., according to an FCSO news release.

A deputy stopped the car and saw a cardboard box sitting on the passenger seat, filled with pamphlets containing graphic images of women and men engaged in various sex acts.

Cestoni ranted about homosexuals and the church, and said she’d created the pamphlets using Microsoft PowerPoint.

She said that she was “a church,” that she’d been “conducting research” on local clergy, that people “deserved to know the truth” and that church employees should pay back their salaries to the public. She said she was “educating people,” according to the news release.

A deputy asked her if she intended to harm anyone if her demands were not met. She said she didn’t.

Deputies found that she also did not have a driver’s license: Hers had been suspended for failure to pay child support, according to the arrest report.

“Our team did a great job in tracking this deranged offender down and taking her into custody,” Sheriff Rick Staly said, according to the news release. “Thankfully, she did not appear to be sick with COVID-19 symptoms, but she certainly needs some help. This again proves that ‘see something, say something’ works, and we thank the community for being part of our guardianship policing philosophy.”

Cestoni is charged with 11 counts of distributing obscene material, driving with a suspended license and violating executive order 20-91 for conducting travel not related to essential activity, according to the news release. She is being held at the county jail on a $7,000 bond.

She was previously arrested in Flagler County for driving on a suspended license, writ of bodily attachment, and failure to appear for a traffic summons, according to the news release.
