A friend of mine once railed against the networks news coverage of events that require solemnity. Play by play coverage of anything with a procession gives the chance for too many inane observations. We’ve seen too many BIG funerals to need Peter and Barbara throwing it to casket side coverage from Harry who whispers “ Yes, Peter and Barbara, the cold lifeless remains of Commissar Blukolevishensky pass by the hundred thousand strong mourners here in The Great Uprising Square where only last month hundreds of their countrymen where crushed by Memorial Guard tanks during the food price riots…”
And it’s happening this morning.
You can rail against the mainstream press, they occasionally rise to disgust, you can swear only to listen to Limbaugh or Fox, you can shut it out completely regardless of political bend: we all MUST unite in vomitous rage when announcers gush over and EXPLAIN what needs no explanation. What cannot be enhanced only cheapened by their ego feeding blather. It’s a Mass, not a Craftsman Truck Race at Bristol.
So I put on EWTN. No announcers, just the Mass, mam. This is a sacred celebration, regardless of one’s own belief some level respect and a nodding acknowledge of the faith, beauty, belief and joy of the participant is clear.
So is man’s feeble attempt to explain GOD. They have quite a handle on Jesus; I’ll give you that. And we can TACKLE so forgiveness, forgiveness ain’t making it out of the backfield.
THE Spirit is there too, in abundance.
I watch a lot of EWTN. I like to watch people who have confidence, strength and conviction… I wish I did.
So you GO Bill! You gush Vicky! Pass it to the embarrassed color annalist to explain to you dumb asses what the big hat is.
