Does Porn Need Another Talent Agency

Whether it does or not it has one.. Nexxxt Level Talent Agency is licensed, bonded and open for business.  Jonathon Morgan and Andre Madness aren’t shooting enough to keep themselves busy so apparently they have decided to take a swing at being talent agents.  They set themselves apart by not charging the producers a booking fee.

They dont say what they charge talent.  They currently have two girls on their roster Kleio Valentien and Brandi Love.

The industry is starting to become more saturated with agents than with people shooting content but Jonathon and Andre seem to be well liked and the policy of not charging producers could work for them if they can sign up more talent.  On the other hand if they are charging the talent more and can’t sign up quality talent they likely wont last very long.  There is no mention if they belong to LATATA or not, they are not listed on Latata.org

Another difference is that the girls will not have to enter into lengthy contracts and “at any given time a girl can leave” according to Morgan. Though it was not specified if there was a “buy out” or anything.

Time will tell if they will make it or not.  I wish them success.

  1. Except most girls in the business are not savvy enough to handle their careers. There are many examples I could point out of girls getting really shitty deals or being taken advantage of because they thought they could make deals independently. I laugh every time I see someone go on a “No girl needs an agent!!!” speech because I just know that they must have no experience actually dealing with real models and they have no idea what goes on behind the scenes when managing a successful girls’ career. At the highest level, it is so much more than answering the phone and putting shoots in a calendar.

These new agencies popping up surely have the same naive point of view. “We’ll just pick up the phone, book some shoots, not charge booking fees and everything will be great! How easy. What could go wrong?!” Just wait until they have cash flow problems because girls aren’t paying commission on time, or a girl blows shoots off and producers go after them for cancellation fees, or travel expenses that had been paid for or whatever. All these guys think its so easy until they try to do it and fail because they don’t have the balls and they don’t understand what it takes to manage these models successfully.

  2. I would hope all their years in the industry would have given them plenty of experience in how models behave in and around the industry.

  3. @ Anonymouse: you must be a talent agent because you are spewing nothing but scare tactics. lol such BULLSHIT! I stand by my statement.

talent you DO NOT need an agent and don’t listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. they are full of shit! you guys are smart enough to do it yourselves. just ask James Deen the “chairperson” for the not for the performers BULLSHIT organization known as “APAC”. as far as I know he has no agent and he certainly isn’t the brightest bulb so if that creep doesn’t need an agent neither do you guys!

oh, and Mr. Anonymouse? the agents are the ones who take advantage of the talent! LOL

  4. Ok the fact that you’d hold up James Deen as an example of why performers don’t need an agent tells me you truly have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m talking primarily about female performers here. There is a HUGE difference between managing careers of female and male performers. There is a huge difference between what a female performer has to deal with and what a male performer has to deal with. You’re also holding up James Deen as though he is representative of the average performer. James Deen is an exception to the rule. He is at the very very top of the business, and I would argue he is smarter than the average performer. But again, we’re not talking about male performers here so that fact that you bring up James Deen is just nonsense.

You think Brett Rossi would have gotten screwed over by Digital Playground like she did, if she was represented by Mark Spiegler or someone like that? Hell no. She listened to the people at Digital Playground, and they fucked her (literally). I could sit here and rattle off many examples like that. Fact of the matter is, if it were Spiegler or LA Direct or OC, or some other competent agent representing her in that deal, there is no way in hell she would have ended up doing her first BG scene for free and then getting fucked out of a contract.

I have experience as an agent and I will tell you when I signed girls who tried to do it independently, they ALWAYS came to me with the same complaints. They were tired of dealing with producers, they were tired of being pressured by producers to lower their rates, they were tired of doing things and being ripped off because they didn’t understand what was fair for them to get, they were tired of being booked for one thing, and then being pressured to do additional work once they were on set etc. They were tired of not being paid on time or having to chase directors for money. They came to me so that they could just concentrate on being a model and not have to deal with all of that. The same exact directors who were telling them “no don’t get an agent” were the ones who would call them up, book them for a Boy/Girl at a below market rate, and then pressure them to shoot more content once they were on set.

Are there some models who don’t need an agent and are tenacious and savvy enough to do it on their own? Yes. But they are the exception, not the majority. I agree there are bad agents. But a good agent can really help a model.

  5. I’m sorry but You are making the women in the industry out to be complete morons who are incapable of taking care of themselves..meanwhile guys like Deen, who isn’t the brightest, can? Lol. Sounds pretty sexist to me…

Well IF what you say is true. that’s why the talent has APAC.. Deen, who has no agent, is the head board member of that organization so he needs to teach the talent that they don’t need an agent..he can show them how he does everything for himself… He can tell them that they need to follow his and stoya’s ( who is a woman with no agent) lead.. These two should NOT be in the minority .. They need to make it the majority! GET ON IT APAC!

I stand by my statement that You are using scare tactics on the naive girls in the industry who might not have a high enough self esteem to think they can do things for themselves because guys like you tell them they can’t… Well, I don’t care how many so called examples you throw at me I am positive the talent both women and men do not need an agent.. So I am standing by my statement…

Oh and your description of the evil producers/directors can also apply to the way MOST agents treat the talent. Come on! They take advantage of them left and right…. I also highly doubt there is a such a thing as a “good agent” .. .. They are all scummy in one way or the other.. It’s just a question of who is the lesser of the evils…

Ps… I will give you credit though for admitting you’re /were an agent! Kudos to you! And kudos to me for figuring that out so fast! 🙂

  6. Crazy times. A dozen or so years ago the only “fee” was paid by the shooter directly to the agent. Then it evolves into Talent getting hit on both ends with fees AND often also the shooter paying the agent; now it has evolved into Talent paying the agent. What’s next – Talent paying both the agent and the shooter to work? This is getting seriously crazy.

  7. @talent: if you are being taken advantage of by the producers or directors report them to APAC! If this is actually a legit organization than they will help you by doing something about it… If not, well….

So give it a shot.. Dump your agents! If you find out that you can’t do it yourself you can always get them back… But trust me… You won’t need too! 😉

  8. Hell no! The fucking has enough agencies and all of them are nothing
but a bunch of licensed crooks like Spiegler who pimps off escorts and deals crack. Fuck that shit.

    Shalom!

  9. Too easy to say no. I say: yes, if it’s an agency which answer the phone and emails, no matter what. Still waiting for a word by Shy Love since February 2012. When only your time has a value, i don’t need you as my AGENT. Leave alone the fact that the word AGENT has gone through a completely different dictionary than the English one, in porn. Oh, i mentioned Shy, just cause she’s the first person that came to my mind: all the other porn agents are the SAME, but Mark Spiegler, in my experience. I live well without them, but if the guys from Nexxxt would like to come forward and convince me that they are professional, i’ll listen and i’ll give them credit for it. And before someone says it, i’m out of the picture.

  10. I haven’t met a more professional agent than Mark Spiegler. In fact he’s the only one i’ve met (professional). If some of the girls he represents do crack or escort, that’s up to them and they would still do, Mark or not. The guy picks the phone, answer his emails, .speaks clear, act as an agent. Enough said.

  11. I think being a porn agent is the worst job ever! Unless your running a escort agency there is really no money in being a porn agent. Too many girls, not enough work.

  12. Who would follow stoya’s lead? She doesn’t work, she’s not even relevant. This business is about making money. You need to change your screen name to “Non-Sense”.

  13. NEED another agency…no. Whether enough performers will WANT the business model they are offering is something only time will tell. The no fee to producers sounds like a good way to attract producers looking for a way to cut up front costs. Will it pan out to more work for performers who sign up with the agency ..again it’s a time will tell deal.

  14. @Billy: Actually stoya said she just produced or directed something…
and like Deen i don’t think stoya is really that bright but she is when it comes to not having an agent and I mentioned her because she is the only woman that came to mind and also because most people know who she is… And someone already posted under “Non Sense” but you can call me non sense if you want. I don’t care.. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, EH? 🙂 even if you are personally attacking me because you know i’m right! Lol

  15. @billy: there is a porn agent that runs an escort agency. 😉

And there is no money in being a porn performer which is why they all escort. They Just do porn to make a name for themselves/ and to advertise their services to potential customers… Duh.

  16. @Non Sense Every Agent has clients that book girls to do privates. I know tons of girls that do it, no big surprise there buddy. I

  17. @Bill: very good Bill! You REALLY ARE smart! You need to comment and spew your insightful knowledge more often! 🙂

  18. @Bill: yep that is correct! That’s stoya. Not the brightest bulb just like her abusive ex boyfriend Deen…But attacking stoya’s character has nothing to do with the fact that she is right about at least one thing! the talent does NOT need an agent!
