Cassie and Dorian del Isla, a married couple currently residing in Ibiza, Spain and working as successful adult film performers throughout Europe and the United States, reveal their secrets to having a prosperous, healthy, and sexually gratifying open marriage.
For the second consecutive year, the married porn stars have been nominated as the ‘Foreign Performers of the Year’ at the annual AVN Awards, taking place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 25th.
Cassie, 27, met Dorian, 39, in 2013 when she was a student working part time at the strip club he owned in Toulouse, France.
“There was immediate chemistry between us,” Cassie said. “Dorian was a handsome, fit, confident, entrepreneurial-minded man and I just knew I wanted him to be a big part of my life the minute I met him. I looked at him and I said to myself, ‘This guy is husband material’.”
The feeling was mutual. Dorian, a former paratrooper in the French Army, wasted no time courting the young brunette from Ile de la Reunion, a small island east of Madagascar.
“We’re like two sides of the same coin,” Dorian said. “We’re both ambitious and fiercely committed to self-improvement. Our values match almost perfectly, which I believe is crucial to any successful marriage.”
Following a two-year engagement, the couple married in 2015 in Bordeaux, the port city in southwestern France where Dorian grew up. Shortly after the wedding, a friend of Dorian’s asked him if he was interested in acting in adult videos. After approaching Cassie about the intriguing proposition, the sexually adventurous couple decided to go into porn together. Their first video together was a smash hit and they’ve worked in the industry ever since, shooting sex scenes together and with other adult film stars.
The del Islas are not shy about their non-conventional lifestyle as wedded porn stars that enjoy sex with each other, and with additional partners, on and off screen.
“My husband and I are both very aggressive sexually,” Cassie said. “While we can certainly be defined as swingers, we do not solely rely on swinger clubs, because the purpose of them is perhaps too obvious.”
“Dorian and I prefer the challenge of ‘the hunt,’” Cassie said. “We like to meet other couples or individuals in more casual places like grocery stores, museums, or nightclubs. That way we can talk, flirt, and really get to know our potential hook-ups in a less sexualized environment, so that we can decide if we want to invite them into our sensual world and ask them to be a part of our love life.”
The couple understands that their career choice and open marriage is perceived as unusual by many, but they both believe that any couple could enjoy a rich sex life with multiple partners.
“You’ve got to love yourself and embrace your uniqueness before you can love another,” Dorian said. “Whether you’re in a monogamous or a polyamorous relationship, if you let your personal hang-ups get you down and you’re not committed to self-improvement, you’ll probably have issues in your love life.”
The couple agrees that and mutual consent with regard to each new sex participant is crucial to the success of their open marriage.
“Communication is crucial if you’re a married couple seeing additional sex partners,” Dorian said. “We never get intimate with another person unless my wife and I both agree beforehand that the potential lover will be a healthy addition to our sexual circle. We must both give consent. If one of us has any reservations about the other having a tryst with someone, it won’t happen.”
“We don’t live in the stone age anymore,” Cassie said. “People aren’t constantly hunting or gathering; we have lots of free time and we live longer than ever. Being with someone for a lifetime takes not only work and trust, but also a pragmatic outlook.”
“It’s not realistic to believe a couple could be together for 30, 40, or even 50 or more years and not yearn for sexual variety. We believe an open and honest marriage will be a key to the longevity of our relationship,” she said.
“Here in America, I think people see sex as too important and put sex on a pedestal,” Cassie said. “Sex is good, fun, and healthy. Sexual variety should be a part of every marriage, but sex should never be taken too seriously. No marriage should end because of a spouse’s sexual infidelity. Instead, a sexual adventure with additional lovers should strengthen a marriage so that a couple can enjoy a long and joyful marriage, where pleasure is always welcome and the loving bond between husband and wife lasts forever.”
