Performers and Their Health

From where I am sitting and watching this play out, it seems to me that for the first time ever, performers are beginning to assert that their health is their business and that they do care about it.

Performers have made it crystal clear in several of the recent meetings that will get tested where they want, not where they are told, particularly when the burden of paying for the test is on the performer.

A lot of noise is being made about Producers bearing the financial responsibilities for testing.  Naturally the producers say well ya but what about when she shoots for five different companies in a week or two, who has the burden of paying for the test?

Personally I believe that an equitable system could be worked out but it may even be too late for that.

You see this looming condom legislation is likely just the tip of the iceberg, at some point someone is going to get around to the real gotcha.

Workers Compensation Insurance.

When they start enforcing THAT requirement in regard to performers then it will really change things.  Do you think the company underwriting the insurance will be OK with non condom?

For years porn wanted to be taken seriously as a real business….well now that wish has come true and we are being expected to behave like a real business….and porners suddenly don’t like it very much.
