Bad day: Avenatti hit with $4.85M personal judgment, evicted from offices

Creepy porn lawyer and carnival barker Michael Avenatti had a really a bad day on Monday.

The attorney for aging porn star Stormy Daniels suffered two big losses, including one in which a California court ordered him to pay $4.85 million to a lawyer who used to work for Avenatti’s former (now bankrupt) firm, Eagan Avenatti.

Shortly after that ruling, an Orange County court ruled that Avenatti and his staff are to be evicted from their suite office at Newport Beach’s Fashion Island mall after they missed four months worth of rent payments to The Irvine Co.

In the first case, Superior Court Judge Dennis Landin said Avenatti had to personally pay the $4.85 million because he personally guaranteed a settlement with former employee Jason Frank.

Judge Landin turned down Avenatti’s request to have the case moved to federal court before making his ruling. Frank’s legal representation said the tactic was nothing more than an attempt to delay the ruling.

The law firm was previously ordered to pay $10 million to Frank, but the $4.85 million owed by Avenatti is the first time he is being held personally liable in the case, in which Frank has said he was owed millions after the firm misstated its profits.

Eagan Avenatti emerged from federal bankruptcy protection in March after Avenatti promised that it would pay millions of dollars to Frank and other creditors, including the Internal Revenue Service. It has defaulted on nearly every payment that was due.
