Porn Has 2 Years Tops

I heard that said today by someone well placed in the biz and actually he may be a tad optimistic.

While I don’t believe that porn will just cease to exist, the long overdue shakeout will pretty much be over by then and most of the companies that are here today will be gone.

The big boys will survive, Adam and Eve for example turned a profit over last year, they would be one of the last to go because their catalog sales are massive.

Companies that successfully diversify will hang in there as will the ones who put quality before quantity.

There is no question that the business is imploding and has been for a few years, AVN has gotten smaller and smaller to the point that they have now consolidated their magazines into fewer publications. Most companies have cut their production in half at the very least.

But the companies that do survive will see profitability and a reduction in the amount of product should stabilize prices and hopefully bring in new opportunities. but the heyday of the nineties is gone, the internet will see to that, The GVAs and IVDs of this world will either find a new way to survive or die, even porn can’t survive four levels of markup, I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did.
