Apparently back in May some very secretive meetings were held between Vivid owner Steve Hirsch and Youporn owner Stephen Jones.

According to a Conde Nast article Hirsch claims that vivid’s website brings in 15 million a year and Digital Playground owner Joone says his does the same

And they know it. And if that were the case either of them would be complete idiots not to buy out youporn, whose daily traffic is at least 2 orders of magnitude more than both DP and Vivid combined.
In the article Hirch claims that Vivid is the worlds largest producer of adult videos.
I bet this would come as a surprise to a LOT of people, including Berth Milton and probably even Larry Flynt.
Hirsch also admits that (as of May 07) his revenues on DVD sales were down more than 50% ( and certainly more by now) over 2004
Hirsch puts Vivids annual revenue at 100,000,000 off of 60 releases per year, 30% of which is accounted for by DVD sales. That means 30 Million dollars made on DVD sales of 60 movies…..ya right…. thas a half million per movie in DVD sales….more bullshit specially when he explicitly states that doesnt include pay per views and cable licensing etc.

Many of these bigger studios need to start embracing the online trend instead of relying on DVD’s for revenue.
Private are a good example of a Studio that have embraced VOD & have flourished for it.
