Anti-sex ‘prohibitionist’ feminists really crack me up. When people disagree with these authoritarians, and refuse to pass their idiocy into law, they claim it’s due to the voters suffering from a kind of false consciousness: they’ve been brainwashed and lulled into misapprehensions, and only “woke” activists can “educate” and correct them.
As we reported on Election day, the Lyon County, Nevada brothel ban ballot measure failed conclusively: 80-20.
This news article is from the Reno Gazette Journal:
Groups looking to end prostitution in Nevada aren’t discouraged by Lyon County voters’ rejection of an advisory question to rescind the county’s brothel ordinance.
Brenda Sandquist, spokeswoman for the End Trafficking and Prostitution PAC, said anti-brothel and sex-trafficking groups aren’t giving up on their message.
Check out the condescension in the following quote:
“The people of Lyon County — this is their normal. It’s that mentality – it’s normal that those brothels are there. To have them removed could be a little scary,” she said. “They believe the lie of the brothel myth. That’s all they know. I don’t fault them that. They just have to become more aware.”
The will of the voters can be written off — disregarded — because they’re not as smart, knowledgeable, kind, brave and ‘woke’ as the measure’s truth-seeing, morally superior prohibitionist proponents.
Lyon County’s brothel advisory question stemmed from a referendum the anti-sex trafficking group No Little Girl was seeking to place on the county’s ballot. The referendum would have forced voters to outlaw brothels or freeze the county’s brothel ordinance. The End Trafficking and Prostitution PAC united with Lyon County residents against brothels to support their effort, Sandquist said.
“It changed from grass roots to more organized,” she said. “It’s still all of the same people, but after the advisory question (came into play) we needed to get more people involved who had experience with campaigning.”
LMAO. The population of Lyon County is 54,122. Only 4,031 residents voted for the brothel ban. That’s pretty pathetic.
Sandquist said the PAC will be part of a bill Sen. Joe Hardy (R, Dist. 12) will be bringing forward to address brothels and human trafficking during the next legislative session.
Hardy confirmed in a phone interview that he has already drafted a bill, but “how much and how far it goes remains in the power of the people [Democrats] who control both houses now and the governorship,” he said. “It will be an interesting dynamic to see what happens.”

Human Trafficking has become the go to boogie man for just about anything that is porn or sex related by conservative groups.
