By now you all know that Jim Mitchell died, some you you know about The Mitchell Brothers O’Farrell Street Theater, an adult entertainment emporium like no other. No doubt some of you remember the place.
It’s pretty well known that Hunter S Thompson worked there, That the likes of Charles Bukowski visited but somewhat lesser known is that Robert Crumb spent a lot of time there. Better known as R Crumb he left a mark on the art world through his illustrations in alternative comics. If you’d like to know more about Crumb check out the Documentary Crumb . What does all this have to do with anything you ask? Crumb spent a lot of time in the O’Farrell Street Theater and he drew compulsively in a stairwell there. The walls of that stairwell are full of original R. Crumb artwork, it has long since been closed to the public, oddly enough it almost guarantees the buildings staus as a historical landmark at some point.
