“Vigilantes Kill TN Pornographer’s Wife.”

That’s the way the story reads on the news wire and a lot of news services picked it up. This “pornographer” was actually a man who was charged with having child porn.  There is a difference you know, not that this killing is acceptable under any circumstances because it isn’t.  My point is why is the media using these words “pornography” and “child pornography” interchangeably? There’s a HUGE difference, one is legal, the other is a federal offense.

Is there something that we as an industry can do to stop this?

It seems ubiquitous, wherever someone mentions child pornography it always gets lumped in with our industry and we despise child pornography, so why do we tolerate the association?

Maybe what we need is for someone to finally say enough and file suit against the newswire for defamation , but then how do you defame an industry that tolerates the likes of Mark Handel (Khan Tusion)?

  1. You gotta admit that IS Funny…The Metrosexual post not the murder.

And yes you have said that for a very long time…problem is nobody in porn seems to give a rats ass about the image of this industry. Even the people that claim to be the most concerned about it.

  2. Hi Mike … I just joined the site.

I think that part of the problem you’ve pointed out is the blurring of the concept of what is “legal” and what is generally considered “moral”. (Of course, morality is a subjective.)

I believe in freedom of speech and freedom of expression, but it gets harder to justify when you look at the range of things that are considered “legal” porn. And, those who use spam mail that indiscriminately lands in the E-mail of kids and uninterested adults don’t help, either.

Are there any porn industry associations that are working self-police the industry, so others don’t have an opportunity to force limitations upon us?

Ya right, I have been saying we need to do that for years…it falls on deaf ears, so Uncle Sam is going to do it for us.

  4. Mike’s 100% right about this. So in response to this post, I’m now referring to all cigarette smokers and coffee drinkers as “drug users”.

It was VERY funny. My g/f (who shot the pic) and I almost fell out of our chairs.
