It’s Important To Stay busy In Your Old Age:

(From My Buddy BBQ Skeet who is a cop)

WHAT DO RETIRED PEOPLE DO ALL DAY?

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting.

Well for example, the other day I went into town and went into a shop. I was only in there for about 5 minutes, when I came out there was a cop writing out a parking ticket.

I went up to him and said, “Come on man, how about giving a senior citizen a break?” He ignored me and continued writing the ticket.

I called him a Nazi turd. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn tires.

So I called him a shithead. He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes.

The more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote. Personally, I didn’t care. I came into town by bus.

I try to have a little fun each day now that I’m retired.

It’s important at my age.

The Fans Will Speak, What Will They Say?:

Like Everyone else in porn I got this press release last week, I decided to run it since I have access to all these guys and I figured I would ask the tough questions and see just what these awards are all about. Here’s the abbreviayed press relesa that ya read elsewhere, what follows is an interview with Dan Davis, Editor in Chief of “Genesis” Magazine and Bob Christian, Vice President of New Business, Adam and Eve, Paul Fishbien at AVN was also sent the questions but was out of town and couldnt respond in time.

First Annual F.A.M.E. AWARDS to Debut at Erotica LA

F.A.M.E. Award Show set for Saturday, June 24th at the LA Convention Center

Los Angeles, CA At last! Adult film fans will finally have their say! The F.A.M.E. Awards (Fans of Adult Media & Entertainment) are set to make XXX history as the first truly interactive awards event ever. Erotica LA will play host to the first annual F.A.M.E. Awards, to be held on Saturday, June 24th, at 9 pm at the LA Convention Center. What separates the F.A.M.E. Awards from various other award shows is that the top stars and films of the past year in adult will be chosen exclusively by the fans.

To make this groundbreaking event possible, industry leaders Adam & Eve.com (www.adameve.com), Genesis Magazine (www.genesisonline.com), WantedList (www.wantedlist.com) and AVN.com (www.avn.com) have partnered together to bring The F.A.M.E. Awards to life. “While there are numerous other award shows in adult businesses, we wanted to create one where the true critics — the fans — could pick their favorites in the categories that matter most to them,” explains Dan Davis, Editor in Chief of Genesis. “The fans will be the ones pre-nominating the performers and movies, choosing the finalists, and ultimately naming the winners. These are their awards!”

“Adam & Eve is sponsoring these awards in order to give the fans of adult movies and entertainment a real voice to tell the industry what they like best. Other awards use industry insiders to determine winners — F.A.M.E. listens to the real consumers and users of the products,” says Bob Christian, Vice President of Adam & Eve.

Fans above the age of 18 can go to the F.A.M.E. website (www.thefameawards.com) and vote on nominations in the appropriate categories until March 15th. The finalists in each category will be announced shortly thereafter based on the pre-nomination results and voting will continue until June 23.

“We always thought that an awards show based on consumer choices was a great idea. Obviously the AVN Awards are more for the trade and are picked by the critics. We’re proud to be part of a show that gives the fans a voice, since they’re the ones who ultimately decide which stars and products are popular. And we are especially proud to be in partnership with such fine companies as WantedList, Adam & Eve and Genesis magazine,” says Paul Fishbein, president of AVN.

Hosts for the F.A.M.E. Awards show will be announced in the coming weeks.

Here is what I asked The Guys:

1. How will the ballots be cast and the winners selected.

Bob Christian: Fans can vote via the internet at TheFameAwards.com and possibly mail-in if lead times cooperate with our schedule.

Dan Davis: All adult fans over the age of 18 can go to www.thefameawards.com and vote on the secured site where only one vote per person during each time period will be allowed. There will be 19 “suggestions” or pre-nominations, plus an area to write in if a fan doesn’t agree with any of the pre-noms posted, to select the nominees. The top five vote getters in each category will become the finalists or nominees. Fans will then pick who they think are their favorites in each of the 12 categories and the top vote getters in each category will be selected as the winner.

2. One problem with fan awards in the past has been that the companies that advertise the most tend to do the best by virtue of the fact that names are recognizable. How are you going to know that the voters are actually informed and not just voting for who they have heard of?

Bob C.: The sponsoring companies work with most of the stars and most of the movie makers, so we are not trying to steer votes in any direction – we just want the fans’ honest votes. More directly to your specific question about how will we “know that the voters are actually informed” – well, we won’t know! We will faithfully record and record their votes.

Dan D.: It’s always up to a company or person to promote itself as much as they can. Whether you’re McDonalds or Jack in the Box, X-Men 2 or The Incredible Hulk, Crowe or Cruise. The same goes for any adult video star or company. Success doesn’t always depend on if you advertise heavily. The end result is if you have a bad product or do a bad job, you’re not going to make people sit up and take notice. How many movies, tv shows or albums in mainstream have bombed despite heavy promotion? Obviously, people will vote for who they know, but more importantly who they like. We feel that we will get a good cross-section of fans voting—as many casual fans as we have rabid fans.

3. What’s to stop someone who has a very active fan base via yahoo groups and blogs and such from stacking the deck?

Bob C.: Nothing will stop that. We would love this to attract that kind of attention actually, and I think it will happen. What we WILL stop is any one fan from excessive voting, by using measures which will catch and reject multiple votes.

Dan D.: We invite stars and producers to embrace these awards using whatever P.R. methods they like. It would be good for them to make as many people aware of themselves not only for the F.A.M.E. Awards, but for them. Bloggers, including yourself, write about what they know and embrace, and tend to include companies who make themselves accessible to them. So if a particular company, star or director doesn’t have a great relationship with someone, they don’t get as much coverage as the ones that do from them. As for to keep people from posting multiple votes to “unfairly” stack the deck, it’s simple. We plan on putting various measures into play to keep fans limited to only voting once per category.
4. people’s choice type awards usually don’t really reflect the peoples choice, instead they reflect successful marketing campaigns how are these awards going to be different.

Bob C.: Hey, it’s America – free choice, free speech, individual vote. Some fans will follow marketing campaigns, others will vote for anyone BUT those, because they don’t like them. Let the people speak. We will listen.

Dan D.: This is an awards show to reflect the choice of the people. They are the ones who are voting. There’s no electoral college. LIke I said before, they will vote for their favorites. Does a blockbuster like Star Wars or King Kong typically win the award for “Best Picture” at the Oscars? No. Does everyone always agree on who does win? No. We cannot control who has heard of what — that’s the job of the nominees. The only thing we can promise is a fun and different awards show with some fun categories, and this time the fans will decide.

The Academy Sold Out Years Ago:

In the Oscar aftermath Crash has pulled off a huge upset taking Best Picture honors from the heavily favored Brokeback Mountain.

I saw Crash, I saw Brokeback Mountain, I saw Walk The Line, I saw Cinderella Man, I saw Memoirs of a Geisha. Of these Brokeback Mountain was clearly the weakest movie and Cinderella Man was clearly the best. But Oscar has turned political in his old age and anything with a little controversy is fawned over and plain old good movie making is overlooked in favor of a couple of kissing cowboys or tired old cries of racism. But as Tod Hunter would say…What do you expect from an organisation that gave a Best Actress Award to Cher. Whores.
