how I would have handled that interview
OK I am the first to admit she is an idiot and she let herself get railroaded with the press’s version of does your mother know you are a homosexual? But she had to have seen that a simple yes or no was going to bite her either way
So I got to thinking WWMSD (What Would Mike South Do) If I had been Paula
Reporter ” Have you ever used the n word?”
Me: Nutmeg, ya I use that a lot specially in egg nog
Reporter: No the N word that describes persons of color
Me: Nice? ya sure
Reporter: no the derogatory one
Me: Nutty? Neat, Nubian? Nasty? Naughty?
Reporter: No no no the one that rhymes with digger
Me: Oh THAT N word….only when I sing along with jay-z and other rappers….

Reminds me of a South Park clip…
well we know there’s one “N” word Paula Dean would NEVER be caught dead uttering….yep, ‘nonfat’.
BTW, I think its fucking bullshit that Paula is losing her job and her endorsements over this.
She apologized. End of story.
We teach our kids to forgive and forget, but as adults when someone makes a mistake, we’re not happy until someone is publicly humiliated & stripped of every damn thing they have.
You would be hard pressed to find someone older then 50 that has never said the “N” word, especially a southerner.
Agreed. I can guarantee that there isn’t a person in Michigan over the age of five that hasn’t called someone a (expletive that starts with “N” deleted). I know Michigan is the most racist backwater state in the Union but as Karmafan said I bet that is also true for a lot of southern states and I would bet especially Washington DC with all those Republican Representatives and Senators grumbling about President Obama and former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. Democrats have said the same about Condi Rice and Colin Powell.
