Earlier today People released their own version of the story of porn’s Rob Baker and the case he was arrested for. For those who don’t remember he was involved in the murder of Fabio Sementilli.
The 49-year-old hair care executive was found stabbed to death on his backyard patio on Jan. 23, 2017. It didn’t take long for authorities to find out Fabio’s wife was having an affair with Rob Baker.
On June 14, 2017, almost five months after the murder, police arrested Fabio’s wife, Monica, and her lover, Robert Baker, a convicted sex offender, and ex-porn-actor-turned-racquetball instructor, and charged them with murder, with the special circumstance allegations of lying in wait and financial gain, which made them eligible if convicted to life without the possibility of parole.
Prosecutors alleged that the lovers concocted the plan to kill Fabio in order to collect life insurance money.
The case is still ongoing.

Monica (the wife) has celebrity lawyers Leonard Levine and Blair Berk fighting to clear her name, while Rob Baker is stuck with a legal aid lawyer.
Monica Sementilli’s attorney, Leonard Levine, told reporters his client was not involved in her husband’s killing. “My client adamantly denies any involvement whatsoever in the murder of her husband, and we are hopeful that when all the facts come out she will be totally exonerated,” he said.
Monica called Rob Baker over 9,000 times in the year before the murder while Baker reciprocated by phoning her over 17,000 in the same time period.
A grand jury indictment charges the wife of a prominent hairdresser and her reputed lover with capital murder for the man’s stabbing death at his Woodland Hills home in January of 2017. The indictment also charges Monica Sementilli, 45, and Robert Louis Baker, 55, with conspiring to kill Fabio Sementilli.
The grand jury indictment supersedes a case filed in June of 2017 charging the two with the 49-year-old man’s killing, allowing the case to proceed more quickly to trial.
On July 16, 2019, pre-trial hearing Rob Baker refused to come out of his cell. The judge ordered a permanent extraction order. He does, however, appear to his next pre-trial hearing that took place a few weeks ago and they set a new trial date of October 16th. But in reality, it does not look like they will go to trial on that date. Rob Baker’s attorney said he doesn’t think he’ll be trial-ready before 2020.
For this, he blames to prosecution for overwhelming him with discovery which is over 100,000 pages as well as a 2 terabyte hard drive.
Covid-19 of course has slowed all this down but they are moving along and have had several pre-trial hearings so far.
In January of 2021, a judge ruled that it won’t dismiss “sentencing enhancements” in the ongoing murder trial for the wife, which could result in a life prison term without the possibility of parole.
There is no real answer from the DA’s office as to when the trial will begin. It was expected to start on July 7, 2020, but that of course has no happened due to Covid-19.
When asked when the trial may begin, the L.A. district attorney Beth Silverman said in an email that she “has no idea at this point but expects” more delays to the start of the estimated two-month long trial.
