Talent Agent dispute ends with 13 Million Dollar judgement against Celine Dion

Los Angeles California. The entertainment giant talent agency ICM Partners vs Celine Dion, ICM was successful in a labor dispute complaint with Céline Dion, The agency severed ties with Celine Dion in February 2019. Her talent agent levied claims against the mega entertainer, stating her failure to pay her friend and longtime agent Rob Prinz long overdue and eventually delinquent commission fees. Furthermore, claims commissions stemmed from the concert performance event deal she signed in 2017.

The California Labor Commission ruling

The California Labor Commission ruled on Nov. 13 that ICM would be awarded commissions on all of Dion’s performances from a Las Vegas residency and a global tour under an Omnibus Agreement.

Dion’s deal was valued at half a billion dollars, but the Labor Commission wrote that even despite the size of the dispute, it could consistently apply the ruling that a “talent agency is generally entitled to receive post termination commissions for all employment secured by the agency prior to its termination.”

Celine Dion came short of screaming foul, Stated she felt betrayed by her Agent.

“I’m not saying that Mr. Prinz did not do anything, but he’s taking much more credit for my career than he deserves. Mr. Prinz had never asked to be paid for 10 years for a few months’ work, and I never agreed to it.

Dion’s new manager paid Mr. Prinz, Celine’s previous manager, the appropriate commissions until he was fired in 2017. however, the contract was still in effect and enforceable. The topic of “ongoing” services and commissions resurfaced after Prinz assisted Celine Dion in “purchasing and negotiating” a massive AEG deal that would pay the 52-year-old singer nearly $500 million in performance fees between 2017 and 2026. According to the terms of the agreement, Dion would earn $500,000 per Las Vegas show and “a guaranteed minimum average of $1,075,000” for 198 shows outside of Sin City – as well as a $5 million signing bonus split evenly among the sets.
