Here’s a story that is deep disturbing on a couple of levels. First, obviously, we have a pedophile Level 3 sex offender into child porn, with convictions for incestuous marriage. But also we have a private company ratting out citizens to law enforcement.
An e-commerce company alerted the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crime Unit about an “odd” online purchase. A man, identified as 48-year-old Sean McClure of Shirley, bought a “love doll” sex toy, which resembled a child, State Police said.
“The purchase of such an item violates the corporation’s user agreement and terms of service,” State Police said.
(Once again, this represents a good result from a chillingly bad business policy. Refusing to participate in certain transactions is one thing; monitoring transactions and then informing on the participants is quite another. Some would call the unification of authoritarian government and private business interests ‘fascism’.)
Trooper Jeffrey Perry quickly learned McClure is a registered sex offender in Massachusetts. He has several convictions for indecent assault and battery and rape of a child on his record.
McClure has child pornography possession convictions along with incestuous marriage convictions, records show.
Investigators from the Cyber Crime Unit arrested McClure on Thursday in Shirley.
State Police said they executed a search warrant at his home and discovered numerous images believed to be child pornography.
He was charged with possession of child pornography and distribution of obscene matter.
