A Baltimore city employee was fired after allegedly using a city computer to download more than 4,000 sexually explicit images in a span of one month.
A Baltimore city employee was fired after an investigation discovered more than 4,000 “sexually explicit images” he downloaded from the internet during work hours, the Office of the Inspect General announced in a statement Monday.
The OIG opened their investigation after hearing allegations the employee who worked in the city’s finance department had such images on his city-owned computer. The investigation substantiated the truth of the allegations, determining the employee had downloaded the more than 4,000 images in less than a month.
When confronted, the employee admitted he knew accessing and downloading the photos was in violation of city policy, and that he downloaded them during work hours. He was subsequently terminated from his position.
The OIG is referring their findings to the Law Department in regards to potential wage reimbursement from the employees misuse of working hours. The Baltimore City Office of Information and Technology aided in the investigation.

It’s odd that the government of the City of Baltimore—which must be a large institution, given that well over a half million people reside in the city—doesn’t have a firewall in place to prevent employees from accessing smut, much less downloading it to their hard drives.
