In 2018 we reported that Kitty West was found dead. Not much after, her husband was arrested for her murder.
On Monday, her husband was sentenced to 16 years in prison for her death. May she now rest in peace.
William Jeffrey West was sentenced this week by Shelby County Circuit Judge Bill Bostick after he was convicted of manslaughter last year for the 2018 death of his wife, He will reportedly get credit for the three years he has already spent in jail since he was arrested in 2018.
Her husband was accused of hitting Kitty West (who went by “Kat” in her personal life) with a glass bottle in the head. She was found dead in January of 2018, across the street from the couple’s house at about 5 am. Neighbors found her partially naked body and called the police.
She died from blunt force trauma after being hit in the head with a bottle of Lucid brand absinthe on January 12, 2018.
A friend of her husband claimed in a now-deleted Facebook post that Kitty West’s death involved “excessive alcohol consumption” and was a “terrible accident”. The police did not agree and arrested him a month after her death.
Kitty Kat West, who has a 15-year-old son (12 at the time of her death), was found at 5 am. It is reported a cellphone with a green bottle balanced on top was placed nearby. The couple was reportedly having a “date night” on the night of her death and bought whiskey from a local wine and liquor store.
Apparently, the date night did not go well as it ended up with her running out of the house in the middle of the night “half-naked”, where her husband reportedly chased her down with a bottle and knocked her over the head.
He will now serve 16 years in prison for her death, minus the time already spent in jail since his original arrest in February of 2018.
