In a WTF moment, I just found out that as of June 1st, it’s illegal to have sex in your own home with a person from another household thanks to new coronavirus legislation in England.
According to the latest amendment to The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) Regulations 2020 bill – which will today be laid down in law – couples living separately are not allowed to have sex indoors or to stay overnight at each other’s homes.
There is a gathering when two or more people are present together in the same place in order to engage in any form of social interaction with each other, or to undertake any other activity with each other.
It is also now illegal to stay somewhere outside of your home overnight ‘without reasonable excuse’. Such excuses may include moving house, attending funerals, work reasons, care provision, or emergency assistance. Staying over at your boyfriend or girlfriend’s house is unfortunately not regarded to be a reasonable excuse.
Police officers in England have the power to arrest or fine those who break laws intended to protect people during the pandemic, with a default penalty set at £100. However, officers do not have the power to check inside private properties for such violations.

It’s not illegal. They don’t have power to enter your home without either a warrant or lawful reason. It also hasn’t made it through parliament and like the social distancing fines is unlawful so if you are issued such a fine refuse to pay and take it to court and it will be thrown out
It is illegal based on the new regulations. Just because they don’t have the power to enter your home and check doesn’t mean the law doesn’t exist. It is a real law that went into effect on June 1st.
No it’s not. Laws don’t make it through parliament that quick EVER. Like the social distancing fines in public aren’t law. Scotland made them law in an emergency session of parliament while the pandemic is in effect but England hasn’t. If they arrest you it is unlawful, you will win your court case and the fine will be thrown out. Fines for breaking social distancing are already being thrown out
