Facebook Manager of Community Development Busted in Child Sex Sting

For years Dateline NBC ran a popular segment called “To Catch a Predator” where Chris Hansen would show up when a grown man would think they were meeting with an underage child. This time it is a Facebook executive caught in the act.

Although that show has gone off the air, other non-profit organizations have taken up the cause.

They set up Chris Hansen-style stings and then live broadcast the whole thing.

In this particular case, Predator Catchers Indianapolis set up a meeting with Facebook’s Manager of Community Development, Jeren Miles.

The whole thing last about two hours and was live-streamed.

Jeren Miles thought he was going to meet a 13-year-old boy in a hotel room. Little did he know when he showed up, the underage child wasn’t there and the cameras were rolling.

Needless to say, the man is no longer employed by Facebook.

Meta’s new avatar feature makes you look like a kid. It’s creepy, especially in light of this recent incident.

Meta has now announced a new feature. Personal Boundary which begins rolling out on 4 February. It prevents avatars from coming within a set distance of each other.  If someone enters your Personal Boundary, the system will halt their forward movement as they reach the boundary

It is being made available in Meta’s Horizon Worlds and Horizon Venues software.
