Some Changes I Would Like To See In Porn – The AVN Awards

There’s a few changes I would like to see in porn in 2013, some of them I’m a little on the fence about but they seem like decent ideas.

One I am not on the fence about is our top awards.  The AVN Awards are unarguably the most prestigious our industry has, but it seems that every year they have been slipping more and more into just another popularity/ad revenue rewards points program.

At one time they rewarded excellence, a least for the most part, now few could argue that they simply award mediocrity at best and money spent on advertising most likely.  How else do you defend fifteen nominees per category? Is “Show Me Your Shithole” , “My Wife Caught Me Assfucking Her Mother”, or “Look Mom, My First Black Penis” really all that “clever?  is that what we consider to be award worthy?  Is there really some compelling reason that we feel the need to award a “Clever Title” at all?  A need beyond a place to give a sympathy fuck to a good advertiser who didn’t do anything noteworthy all year?  And please tell me why anyone would nominate performers who quit the biz as “Best new Starlet”

And do we need awards for every micro-niche in porn?  Best zit popping video AND best zit popping series?

How about doing away with about 90% of the categories and just awarding things that are actually award worthy?

And since its closely related and I get a lot of questions about it let’s talk about that AVN Hall of Fame…I get lots of people wanting to know what the qualifications are.  I know at one time one qualification was that an inductee had to have been in the industry and active for ten years.  That’s the only  qualifying factor I have ever seen but it is meaningless.  I mean few people could argue that Ron Jeremy or Larry Flynt belong in any porn Hall of Fame and of course Reuben Sturman….oh wait, he aint in there…..But Marc Wallace and Mister Marcus are, of course they certainly left their mark in porn, showing absolutely no regard for their fellow performers they faked STD tests and in Marcs case passed a death sentence along to them, ya that’s certainly more award worthy than someone like say….Stormy Daniels or Vicky Vette right AVN? It isn’t about people who have worked hard to do something special or try to better the industry is it?

Lets go ahead and give out awards to people who build websites, then steal the content that we have worked hard and spent money  to produce.  Let’s award them for making that content available to the world for free.  That is certainly a more noble pursuit than spending thousands of dollars of ones own money to shut down those websites that deal in stolen content right AVN?

And porners wonder why the business has turned to shit.

That’s always going to be the problem when the people doing the awards and the voting have financial ties to the people they are nominating and voting on, it will NEVER EVER EVER be objective.
