On July 4, the Vanderbilt University held a workshop at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) in Nigeria, to tutor 100 Medical Doctors on the management of Priapism — a long-lasting, painful erection.
In Greek mythology, the rustic fertility god Priapus is the protector of livestock, beekeeping, and male genitalia.
According to a Statement signed by Hauwa Muhd Abdullahi, Deputy Director, Information/ Public Relations Unit, AKTH, “Vanderbilt University, Medical Center will train 100 Nigerian Medical Doctors on the Basic Skills in the Management of Priapism on Tuesday at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.”
The Statement added that, “the International Workshop organized in collaboration with the College of Health Science, Bayero University, Kano, has invited about 100 Medical Doctors as participants within Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano and other medical doctors in the Kano State .
The presentation was scheduled to start by 9:00 am at the Conference Hall of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, perhaps embarrassingly located at the Catering and Dietetics Department of the hospital.
It remins unclear at this hour wheter any actual priapisms occured in the Conference Hall of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, or were examined or treated.
In other priapism news,
A creepy City University of New York (CUNY) Kingsborough Community College math professor named Ayalur Krishnan reently admitted to becoming obsessed with a grad student, and sending sexually inappropriate texts and emails to her.
According to court filings, in one email, he told the student that her new email sign-off, which included only her name, caused him to have a “priapism.”
One thing we know for sure: if Prof. Krishnan ever decides to become an educator in Kano, Nigeria, his priapism issues can be treated by 100 highly-trained Medical Doctors.
