I’m sure you have heard the story by now. With two predators at her door and a baby to protect Sarah McKinley calls 911 to report a break in progress, she asks the 911 operator if she can shoot the guy if he enters her house stating that she has two guns. Well one of the douche bags entered her house, and she unloaded a shotgun into his sorry ass leaving him DRT (Dead Right There). His buddy decided whatever was in the house that he wanted wasn’t worth dying for and fled the scene, he later surrendered to authorities.
This IS the form of capital punishment That I am all for. I have decided, after many years of consideration, that state executed capital punishment is nothing more than revenge and should be outlawed, I don’t like the idea of giving the government the responsibility to properly adjudicate and kill someone for something that he or she did to someone else, lock em up throw away the key, it’s cheaper and just as effective.
On the other hand I applaud a private citizen, who in an effort to protect themselves, property, or loved ones or even when present in the event of a potentially violent felony (the perpetrator is armed), shoots, stabs, beats to death, or otherwise kills the perpetrator. I consider THAT to be a patriotic act.
So Sarah, if you read this, God Bless you doll, because of you there is one less predator in the state of Oklahoma, good for you.

Kudos to this young mother! When I first saw this story, I not only applauded her, but SHOUTED for the 911 operator who advised her to “do what you have to do to protect your baby and yourself” (though she would not directly advise her to shoot). And I was thrilled to learn that authorities had declared the shooting “justifiable”.
On capitol punishment, I have to add an observation. I, too, have been VERY pro capitol punishment for many years in the past. My feelings haven’t changed because of the justice/revenge issue. I still feel that scumbags who are truly guilty of heinous crimes should be removed from existence… by whatever means necessary, whether by the family/friends of the victims, or the state. I believe that if my loved ones are victimized to great enough extent, I have the right to hunt down the perpetrator and exact justice, or vengeance, whichever you wish to call it. And I would exercise that “right” regardless of legal consequence.
Here’s the problem with state sanctioned capitol punishment. We have reduced our justice system to an amoeba (“no brain, no heart” … I borrowed that phrase from a very good atty friend of mine). Most prosecutors have only one purpose in life, GET CONVICTIONS. They never want to lose, and their egos (not to mention their political ambitions) will not allow them to admit they’re wrong. In most cases (large and small), they will only dismiss charges when they see there’s no chance of winning. With this in mind, the trial process comes down to who can produce the best “show” in front of a jury. It no longer requires hard evidence or eye witnesses. A person who should be considered innocent until “PROVEN” guilty can be convicted simply on the “opinion” of the jurers, who the state will spend unlimited resources convincing. And remember… the accused most often has limited or NO choices in the resources to PROVE THEIR INNOCENCE (just think about that phrase for a minute… “prove your innocence”, how wrong is that?).
So yes, definitely, hell yes, Sarah did the right thing in the situation. Having the guns in the house, the skill to use them, and the presence of mind to make the the most important decision of WHEN to use them, shows that she took RESPONSIBILITY as the ultimate first line of protection for herself and her family. I wish this young lady the best.

However, prosecutors have charged his alleged accomplice, 29-year-old Dustin Louis Stewart, with first-degree murder. According to authorities, Stewart was with Martin but ran away from McKinley’s home after hearing the gunshots.
“When you’re engaged in a crime such as first-degree burglary and a death results from the events of that crime, you’re subject to prosecution for it,” Walters said.
LOL while it does serve him right and it isnt without its humorous aspects I dont think charging his accomplice with Murder one is in any way, justice. Manslaughter 2 ya….
One thing about this story worries me….she had a HUGE ASS German Shepherd beside her when they interviewed her for tv. Where the hell was he when all of this was going on? I would think the sound of a barking dog would scare most people off. Then again nobody ever accused idiots of possessing an overload of common sense.
Goddess, that large German Shepherd was probably too docile to defend his/her owner and her children. My mother had one and he would have walked up to an intruder for attention, not bite or bark at him. About the only person that even got growled at was the meter reader (when she was a pup a meter reader rapped her on the nose with a clipboard). Now if the dog had been a pit bull or rottweiler I would ask the same question you did but a German Shepherd in general is not a watchdog by any means — but they do make great kids dogs otherwise.
BTW, cute girl. Maybe Mike can talk her into a porn scene and than she can parlay that into a career.
Yet they seem to make good police dogs…weird. Although they seem to be using the Belgian Malinois more than the GS.
I, on the other hand, have a “sweet, gentle Lab” who won’t even let people into our house without growling and snarling. So I guess you never can tell with dogs!
