Some Answers My Interview With T J Cummings

I just got off the phone with T.J. Cummings who wanted to “set the record straight”

He indicated that he “has NOT read this site and that everything he was responding to was coming to him from elsewhere and that it is full of lies and misrepresentations”

he said that he was set to shoot for Wicked pictures on Fri Dec 6th and went to get tested at TTS on Tuesday Dec 3rd. he said that TTS called him on Wednesday December the 4th and notified him that there was a problem with his test. They sent him the results of everything BUT his HIV test. He said they told him that ‘this was not unusual and that he had nothing to worry about” and that they hod gotten no results from his first test (added from my notes)

He said the next day, Thursday Dec the 5th TTS Florida called him and asked him to come in and retest and they they never told him he should not have any sexual contact until he retested. He said that Sergio at TTS could back all of this up. He restated that they told him he “had nothing to worry about.”

He booked the webcam scene with Pressley around 7PM on Thursday Dec 5th he did confirm that date and time. (7PM ish)

He did so thinking that his test was fine and that there was nothing to worry about even though he had been told to come in and retest because “TTS doesnt like to have inconclusive tests on the books”

He chose to retest at CET instead and was notified by CET on Friday Dec 6th at 1030 AM (approx) that he had tested positive for HIV.

He said that he has never in his life escorted and that any ads that appear to be him are fraudulent.

He also stated that he has done NO cam shows in the last 6 months and that all of his sexual partners, both on and off camera since October 1 have been notified and have retested at CET.

  3. If most of this is correct then tons of the stuff you wrote before is false. I actually buy his scenario pretty much. It sounds logical. It sounds like the Florida TTS didn’t do a great job maybe. It doesn’t sound like: FSC was late to respond, TJ wanted to knowingly expose someone to HIV or that the first-gen list won’t be done until later in the week as you have gueesed.

  6. You said it wasn’t a Florida based performer. I don’t know much about this guy, does he go from coast to coast? In other words, why “TTS Florida” if he isn’t based in Florida?

  7. “Inconclusive” is a valid, routine result for PCR testing. And seeing as how this is a very early detection, “Inconclusive” is not out of the ordinary. What is out of the ordinary is that someone from TTS would tell him,”You have nothing to worry about.” That statement right there does NOT have the ring of truth to it. He also said that nobody told him to refrain from sexual contact, which just kind of indicates that maybe he didnt refrain from having sex, why else would he say that nobody told him he couldnt,as if it is up to someobdody else to make that decision for him.

    ERIK, does it sound logical that after getting an “Inconclusive” test they would tell him you have nothing to worry about? THese clinics know who they are dealing with, and have dealt with very early detections in the past. Ever notice how they always blame the clinic for telling them something that makes no sense. No way in hell did a clinic that is so well versed in early detection HIV tests tell someone you have nothing to worry about. This just does not even come close to passing the smell test.

  9. I think ANYONE can mess up. I don’t know a ton about TTS, that is true. His version of events is the only one I have heard that makes the timeline fit together in a pretty logical way. You have every right to suspect he is covering for himself.

  10. Yes, and that is why I find it very difficult to believe that an INDUSTRY testing clinic would tell someone theres nothing to worry about after getting an inconclusive test.
    So we are left with two possibilities, one, the industry approved testing facilities are incompetent, or this person isnt being totally truthful.

    The TTS guy said I dont have to worry about an inconclusive HIV test, and the phlebotomist at CET said its okay to work with Hep C. If these guys are to be believed maybe the FSC should look for some other testing facilities, dont ya think? Maybe we find a clinic run by a convicted pedophile, the FSC wouldnt have a problem with that.

    ERIK, what about this indicates that the TTS lab in Florida did not do a good job. The lab that does the tests for TTS is in Florida, They send the specimens everyday, via FedEx to Bio Collections Worldwide, in FLorida, to run the tests. Again, what is it that you see that indicates they didnt do a good job?

  15. Inconclusive doesn’t mean you don’t have HIV. That means it isn’t safe because there is an unknown factor. It doesn’t mean you passed. Anyone who has had a pap come back as inconclusive worries until they find out they are safe. The only way I could see someone not worrying is if they didn’t know what “inconclusive” means.

    look, he was forthcoming in that he was getting fucked off camera by a few women, a few TS, and a lot of guys. In private he was a complete bottom and that’s pretty clear to anyone who can view his picture collection on his twitter, much less those who knew him in this industry.

    so if you are bottoming without condoms for untested or tested men and TS in real life and you are sick as a dog, and then you test on the 3rd and it comes back inconclusive for HIV on the 4th….and you try to sell to people that you had no idea in the world that HIV was possible and you were still booking content/cam shows not even paid shoots, well then I have a bridge I would like to sell you in AZ.

    This is a man who has been in the biz for over 10 years and has done gay/TS scenes in the past and has been with gay/TS girls privately for years long after he stopped doing scenes. This isn’t someone who was unaware of the risks he was taking in real life.

  18. Seriously? Why in the fuck would you go get re-tested at CET when TTS generally does the re-tests for FREE?

    If I owned a testing facility or I was a doctor/employee working there you wouldn’t be able to pay me enough to put my ass on the line to work with the porn industry when it comes to testing. Do the clinics ever NOT get blamed when shit goes down?

    What exactly is going to happen when the clinics decide they’re sick of being blamed for everything and there’s no clinic out there that is willing to have numerous allegations made against them that they can’t even defend due to HIPPA laws?

    If no clinics are willing to put up with this bullshit and then start getting multiple lawsuits shoved down their throats then I guess the “testing system” will cease to exist and everyone will be relying on paper again?
    (Even though the testing system doesn’t really accomplish that much anyway other than *possibly* avoiding widespread disease, but as you can see it doesn’t really do a very good job of that either considering the large 1st generation list mentioned. And, that doesn’t even include the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. generation lists…)

    I really do feel bad for those performers who somehow think the system will protect them. The testing system is a crock of fucking shit and everyone knows it… It’s nothing more than a system that gives performers a false sense of security.

    Is there evidence for the “everyone knows it” part? You seem to be suggesting that everyone in porn secretly agrees with your opinion. Is there any evidence of this?

    Your whole comment seems to assume that these are lies about TTS and they are being blamed. Could very well be. Do you have any evidence that any of the claims are false in this particular situation?

Look he said he goes to TTS on the 3rd, no results on the 4th, none on the morning of the 5th, so he gets fed up with TTS so then goes to CET. Next morning he finds out hes positive. Sounds like TTS is passing the buck once again. If you ask me what I think happened is TTS didn’t want to tell him about his positive, so they were probably jerking him around so he would go to CET. My girl went to TTS she tested positive for chlamydia on a Friday, she never got her results till Tues, only after she called TTS for them, you might be thinking, whats the big deal about that, the big deal is her old test was still good, so she worked on her old test. Since then we only go to CET. Looking back to Mr Marcus and the syphilis scare, wasn’t it Sergio who did alot of talking back then too??? You might want to ask yourself how did CET find out about the positive over night, when for 3 days TTS still couldn’t give him a answer. In those 3 days someone could of been infected.

    he admitted he had been told to retest before booking the scene with Pressley. His rational was that TTS told him he was fine yet he went to CET and got tested again

    Had that test not come back on Friday and come back monday instead Wicked would not have shot him no question about that but would he have continued with the scene on Sunday?

    He has been in this biz a very long time (since 1998) shouldnt he have known that you do not shoot while waiting on a retest?

  25. Mike after reading all this over and over again he probably went to CET because they get there results back early in the morning and he was suppost to work for Wicked on the 6th. As for Pressley people make plans I’m sure if he turned up positive he would of canceled the scene. Perhaps we should verify all this with Sergio after all TJ said Sergio could back him on all this.

  27. So are you implying that Pressley would work without a test? Doesn’t a small % of blame if that played out fall on her? Also, it does no good to not give “opinions and commentary” on an article if you just do it in the comments. Just sayin. To the overall point, his behavior in those texts in combination with the timeline certainly looks bad. He may very well have acted or been willing to act in a way that endangered others. I’m not sure the proof of that is conclusive though.

    This guy is just afraid to say exactly how it happened. The exact way it happened with Rod Daily.

    This isn’t steroids in baseball where you are injecting something in your body and three strikes and your banned from baseball. NO this is HIV, this Is Hep C, this is Untreatable Gonorrhea, if you fail the PASS/FCC test once, you should be banned from all porn sets for life.

    Guys like Rod Daily, TJ Cummings, Alex Gonza, and Mr. Marcus should never ever get within 100 feet of a porn set.

    I will conclude with this. Who was this shoot with TJ supposed to be with Mike? Was Brad Armstrong the director? Would love to see him defend his hiring of a cross-over who couldn’t even provide a test, yet he wants to harp on Porno Dan all day yesterday and the day before.

When I read the statement, I assumed that’s what he meant considering this is all about HIV and transmission. If it’s solo stuff I kinda don’t find it to be a huge deceit, more like he was considering sexual contact. Does anyone know if there is sex in these cam shows?

    To give the guy the extreme benefit of the doubt…I’d have to say he misunderstood STANDARD notification protocols. I’m trying…it isn’t working.

    As a cancer survivor they often call me back in with, calm professional demeanor intended to reassure me and keep me calm through the process, IG the pathologist, microbiologist, (whoever it was that week) wants a fresh sample to take another look, at this point he hasn’t identified anything so we don’t want to unduly concern or alarm you. Can you be here at two pm? Cindy (who knows you and can keep your ass calm) has an opening then.
    (Running joke…if they call at 11am and ask you to be there at two…he didn’t like what he saw and needs a fresh sample to r/o what he’s scared of…can you drop by in the next day or so…somebody dropped the test tube 🙂

    Without a definitive lab report, very few people can discuss your specific tests, or address pending tests. They can and do offer reasonable or plausible examples of WHY your results aren’t ready yet, or WHY some tests are inconclusive…they also say don’t worry to keep you calm even say don’t assume the worst….they don’t tell you it’s okay to assume the best.

    – I find it hard to believe that a testing facility would say anything other than “don’t have sex” to someone had an inconclusive test. Not to do so would leave them open to a law suit.

    – Given the high risk behavior that goes on off the set, it’s incredible that performers don’t insist on condoms. A performer has no idea that their on set partner with a clean HIV test wasn’t receiving multiple anal creampies down at the docks just an hour ago.

  34. First, let’s state what should be obvious; TJ is in CYA mode. Whether the testing facility gave him specific instructions to obstain from sex until his status is known is not the most important issue. Personal Responsibility is. Any person who undergoes ANY testing [not specific to HIV]…and the test results are “inconclusive” knows there needs to be further testing. INCONSLUSIVE is a valid test result but one which needs to be resolved into positive or negative; and then retested several times to be certain. Unless TJ suffers from a learning disability he knows what inconclusive means; “UNSURE at this time”. He may have been in denial, but you cannot say he is naive of the dangers of HIV and moral protocols. IF you are unsure about your current HIV status than obstaining from an optional sex scene is warrented unless it’s protected [and still not advise for an adult performer]. It’s really sad. NOW THAT IS SAID I have one question; is THIS the performer that wanted to remain anonymous at the Rod Daily/Cameron Bay press conference or is this a new/totally seperate alert?? The followigng is an excerpt from a HP article “Another man who identified himself as a porn performer joined the press conference by phone, saying he wanted to remain anonymous. He claimed to have contracted HIV working in the industry and tested positive in the last six months.   36. They did give him ALL the info they had, that info being the test is INCONCLUSIVE. These industry facilities know that they are very likely dealing with a very early detection, especially when a person has a long testing history.
    Lurkingreaders post about the cancer clinic calling him for additional specimens is a great example. Needing to get additional specmens is routine procedure, and what is told directly to patients is a matter of protocol, youdont just make it up as you go. I find it exremely difficult to believe they told him you have nothing to worry about. Just like the last hep c case, its blame the messanger, and cover your ass by accusing someone of telling you somehtin, knowing full well they cant defend themselves, routine adult industry procedure that we have seen several times in the past.

    Did you read Dukes statement about how the last TWO other moratoriums called this year..stopped the HIV at the gate…UHHHH can someone please tell me WHY she never mentions the WINDOW or contact lists that happened in every situation?

    If testing stopped disease at the gate…there would have been no need for contacting industry people who had been exposed during the window…come on…don’t spin this shit it’s serious….we all know those moratoriums including notifying and testing co-workers.

    The reality that someone either misunderstood or denied the reality of begin sent for a second test…well that’s why you gotta assume ….fluids and skin carry disease.

    Trying to blame their personal life is the stupidest thing I ever heard of…disease doesn’t care if it’s work or play..it’s just trying to find its way.

    I’m not saying this or any other performer isn’t making risky personal choices…the fact is…shouting from rooftops that disease happened in personal/private life …then ripping apart their personal life is a direct result of the industry refusing to create an adequate appropriate disease program…for over 20 years…days like this I want to feed Duke a mad cow burger…but we’d be hard pressed to find a mad cow …hmm how come beef can do it but adult industry can’t.

    Your suggestion that TTS didnt want to tell him about his positive test is, well in a nutshell, ridiculous. The illegallity of what you are suggesting would have them closed down in a nanosecond. They got an INCONCLUSIVE result, and because of his testing history you know this is a very early detection, and an inconclusive result is NOTHING out of the ordinary in these situations.
    TTS did give him an answer, and the answer was INCONCLUSIVE, and they asked him to provide another sample. a completely valid test result, and one that can be expected when dealing with very early detection.

    TJ also taled about being sick in the end of November, the tell tale sign of an early infection. Ignorance is no excuse. A sex worker, especially a man who has sex with men, for money, should be aware of the signs of an infection, considering the activities that he routinely participates in. And then he get an inconclusive test, shortly after his “ilness” and he doesnt think something might be wrong? IGNORANCE is no excuse, and there is no excuse for the overall ignoragnce of perfomrers, directors and producers. Hell, Marcus worked for weeks with syphillis, and visible syphillies sores, but neither he or anyone he worked for recognized it for what it is. You would think that sex workers in this industry would be more informed, but as case after case shows, ignorance is the standard in porn.

  39. The FSC will lose the condom battle. They just don’t know it yet. The State will win because it’s an issue of health and safety for employees. What court is going to side against a safe environment for workers regardless of the industry?

  40. I think its horrible how everyone is picking apart everything TJ has said. He’s probably not really thinking right, he just got horrific news. News that changes your whole life, to be honest I don’t know what I would do in the same situation. You wanted a statement, so he gave you one. He went to Mike South because that’s where everyone goes for information. From what it sounds like, he went to TTS and didn’t get his results, so he went to CET and got them the next morning, not trying to cover up anything. Hell if a medical clinic just sent me my results and there wasn’t any hiv test on it I’d want to know why, and if they do ho hum around about the result, I’d go somewhere else. Here’s something else, so what if he did a SOLO cam show, he has to pay bills doesn’t he??? Why is it that every time one of our fellow performer’s gets news such as this, the majority rips him apart rather then offers him support? As a community we should come together as news like this affects us all. We already get enough flack from the outside media why bash each other. Just saying.

    Tj said his result was INCONCLUSIVE, and said they needed another specimen. The didnt jerk him around or hide his results, they told him we need another specimen.

    He says there wasnt an HIV test on it, and on that I call BULLSHIT. Just like the Marcus case, where he said they guy at TTS tried to remove the test, but as the owner of TTS repleid that is IMPOSSIBLE. The things you are suggesting, the withholding of medical results, just simply did NOT happen.

    TY said to Mike that Sergio could back up what he says. I say great, give Sergio written permission to talk about it, and lets see the test results. If he claims TTS will back him up then lets see the results.

    They gave him all of his results, and the result was INCONCLUSIVE. And also knowing that he had the tell tale symptoms of an infection, along with his lifelong risky behavior, I call bullshit on his claim that they didnt give him any results.

    Of course hedoesnt have to release his results, but for the heck of it I will assume that if the results show what he claims he wouldnt have a problem releasing them, after all, he said TTS would back him up, so I say, take him up on that offer, have him give TTS written permission and then see what they say. Some of the things he has said just do not make sense, and appear to be outright untrue.

  42. JW,as far as picking things apart, you went so far as to suggest that TTS withheld a positve HIV result from a patient. I’ve heard alot of ridiculous speculation in the past, but that one takes the cake.

    The clinics are merely the messanger. You go there, they take your blood, run the tests, and tell you the answer. Its not thier fault if a veteran sex worker is so uninformed about the medical issues that directly affect his life, and the life of everyone he works with.

  45. THe legalities of informing a patient of an HIV result is much more strict than the reporting of a condition like chlamydia. One might ask why someone would wait 5 days to ask for their results. From what I know about TTS they ask you up front how you want your results delivered to you, and they give you the option of having them emailed directly to you, or mailed, or if the patient wants to pick them up themselves.

    But what does any of this have to do with your accusation that they intentionally withheld a positive HIV result from a patient. Yours was a very specific ‘speculation’ one that actaully accuses TTS of committing a felony. I simply ask, what makes you think they intentionally, and feloniously withheld a postive HIV result?

  46. Part of the problem here appears to be how the industry / testers handle an inclusive test.

    If we take TJ at his word, then they told him he had nothing to worry about. That would be a real shame if that is the message they are putting out there.

    The real system should be “unless absolutely negative, your test is considered FAILED and you are unable to work” – and they should be using exactly those words. He should have been told straight out “you cannot work another scene as you may have an issue” – end of discussion.

    If he took anything but “don’t work” from their comments, then their comments need reviewing.

    I think there is enough blame to go around here, as while TJ seems like a nice enough guy, he may have selective hearing or selective memory on things, as not everything he is saying adds up. That should be enough to make anyone worry!
