APAC Hosts New Performer Orientation Panel

I got this from APAC and since I generally don’t run press releases I thought about ignoring it.  But I like the idea so I placed a few phone calls and spoke honestly about my concerns.  The first being the apparent association with The FSC.  I was told that yes they admitted they made some mistakes early on by accepting help from some people in setting up the organisation but that those mistakes were learning experiences and that APAC would ABSOLUTELY be an autonomous organization.

I believed the people I spoke with because I know them to be honest and intelligent people.

I also like they idea of talent advocating for themselves and as such however this turns out if you are talent you should attend this and have your voice heard.  I encourage all talent to do so and I encourage LATATA to support this effort

I also encourage APAC not to allow any press, or anyone from The FSC to take part in this meeting in any way shape or form.

If this organization truly is autonomous and not a puppet of The FSC I will give it my full support. I would also like to point out that it is you the performers that will make the difference here, so invest a little time in your future, I have been assured that all of your thoughts, ideas and opinions are welcome and that everyone will have a voice in the direction of this organization, nothing has been pre-ordained.

The Adult Performer Advocacy Committee’s mission is to maintain and improve safety and working conditions within the adult film industry. An organization created solely by performers, APAC gives adult industry talent organized representation in matters that affect performer health, safety, and community. By creating unity amongst adult industry talent, APAC hopes to strengthen the industry’s ability to address current issues and concerns.

Last month Chanel Preston said “Porn 101 is just the beginning in our endeavor to educate.” We are now proud to invite all adult performers to our Newbie Orientation panel on April 6th in Silverlake at 7pm. Please check your LA based testing center, email [email protected], or ask your agent for the exact address. In order to maintain focus on the questions and concerns of performers, this event is not open to the public or members of the press.

About APAC:

The Adult Performer Advocacy Committee (APAC) gives adult performers organized representation in matters affecting talent health, safety, and community. The mission of APAC is to provide representation for performers in the adult film industry and to protect performers’ rights to a safer and more professional work environment. We do this through education of each other and the greater community, development of ethical best practices, and fostering of solidarity. We review existing health and safety protocols, and will initiate new ones as needed. We are committed to working cohesively with all aspects of the adult entertainment industry and the public, strengthening unity between all performers, and maintaining a work environment where workers are valued, respected, and educated. 1. Oh good, maybe they can start with the following:

-Are financial statements going to be released for talent to know exactly how any funds are spent? (Donations, etc.)
-Why were donations going to Kimberly Kane’s home address?
-Who handles the donation funds at this point? Who is listed as signers on bank accounts?
-Is anyone profiting from this organization? (See financial statement inquiry)
-If there are performers on the board who are represented by agents then how do they plan to keep agents from somehow interfering?
-Will they be releasing comprehensive information on how exactly the performer testing/PASS systems work? Especially for new performers…
-Is FSC affiliated attorney Karen Tyman still listed as registered agent?
-Is there actually a “board” and who exactly is on it?
-Will they be representing the CA porn industry or the entire industry including FL and other states?
-Are exclusive cam girls and guys included as well? Strippers who also perform? Any single person in the PASS system? Performers doing content trades? Performers who are based out of Las Vegas?
Who exactly is included in receiving assistance?

    That should be a good start… I’m sure @Lurk will have 100s more.. 😉

I don’t really give a shit what the answers to these questions are… I’m not auditing them or anything, but if the organization wants to be taken seriously then they’re going to have to answer tough questions… these are pretty tough questions, but they are extremely important in determining the value of the organization. Just my very humble opinion.

  2. Oh, one more… will they be addressing the fact that there are many performers who are also producers? How do you determine impartiality?

  3. @Lacey

I want a crystal ball like yours…I think ya hit all the upfront questions.

I can even answer a couple…donations are now directed to a PO box. And APAC is no longer listed at corporationwiki, the Cal Secretary of State doesn’t include the registered agent on charity search form so I can’t know if they have updated their agent but I can confirm that the address listed at the SOS remains the same.

    Round two….
What are the mistakes and how have you rectified them…(helps weed out assumptions) if I get time I’ll make a detailed list…then again maybe I’m not ready to show my hand.

Ooops..replace SOS with cal DOJ where charities are listed.

  4. Can you bring weed and alcohol to the APAC meetings?
How much is expected from the talent to donate to join and maintain
    a membership?
Can APAC help new female talent get out of contracts?
Can APAC help with Talent rates for B/G and B/G anal shoots?
Who has the best cocaine in the Industry?
Does PornoDan help with testing if you are female talent and only pay $500 a shoot? does that include still photos too?
What’s the best Anal prep products for female talent and
    the best douche to use?
We’ll I think that is good enough for now.

  5. If people can bring booze, cocaine and marijuana to the meetings not much will get done, everyone will just drink Jagermeister, snort cocaine, smoke crack and toke marijuana all night. We know from that hosting gig at the XRCO awards Chanel Preston did that she loves her booze (the tape is on X360’s site), cocaine is well known to be a favorite of a small subset of porn performers and it seems about half of porn smokes pot. Sounds like one hell of a party, I hope Ricco, Mike, Lacey and I all get invitations. I think Ricco, Mike and I could all get laid by drunk/high porn chickies. Lacey will have to either become a lesbian for the night or masturbate to me getting laid by Chanel. 🙂

  6. @Mharris,
During the 2004 outbreak Mitch called for a performer meeting, Not the big one at the Hustler studio, But Mitch shceduled it for a Tuesday night, you know, Porn Kareoke night….there was a grand total of I beieve seven performers, two of them new girls who had only done one or two scenes each, while the regular crowd of about 40 or so turned up at Sardos. And they say performers are concerned about health and safety?
Ah PSK in the old days, Aria, Violet Blue, Nakita Denise, Missy Monroe, what a great bunch. Aria actually had a pretty good voice.
