Thanks for the comment Jimmy. As usual, your residency in Twitterville has increased the value of the neighborhood.

I am the first to admit that life would be boring without a little bit of frivolity thrown into the mix. It’s not like I’m walking around right now with a pipe and smoking jacket on my way to diagram the old testament. I just think my time working in reality television has affected my ability to tune into entertainment or social online stuff for an extended period of time where I see the bar being set so low.

Even though I am in my 30’s, I was raised with an old time sensibility that you only speak when you have something to say. I read the other day that Ashton Kutcher posted a message on Twitter about how he accidentally closed a door on his foot. I actually get embarrassed when I read shit like this. We are a reality nation these days where people believe just living their lives = entertainment value. Perhaps I need to keep extending my vacation.

Steve: I Twitter. I’m neither proud nor ashamed of Twittering. I agree there’s a fair amount of cyber-narcissism amongst Twitter users. But everyone doesn’t use Twitter to further their sense of self-importance by Twittering banal thoughts and the most mundane aspects of their lives.

Some use it to network. Others to market. Still others use it heighten social and political awareness. There are many reasons people Tweet.

Here are my last 6 Twitter outbursts.

626,000 jobs lost last week alone! 4.78 million currently collecting unemployment benefits. (8:10 AM yesterday from web)

1/2 day shoot today. I’ve shot the model before and she’s tons ‘o fun to work with. (7:46 AM yesterday from web)

I guess I’m gonna find out if a Craigslist ad will net any side work. I ain’t holding my breath. (9:23 PM Feb 4th from web)

Cheney speaks out against Dems. Claims terrorist nuke attack on US soil in 2 yrs or less and will be Dem’s fault. SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN!!!!! (2:44 PM Feb 4th from web)

It depends what you mean by *real true*. Like *real true* religion? I think your reasoning is slightly off. It’s a fact that you can find raw talent in youtube. There are even established musicians today who if not for the internet would never have gotten a second wind out of their careers.

This point is clearly debatable. I’m aware of a handful of artists who got discovered on youtube and hit the mainstream consciousness in less time it would have taken them had this new medium not been around.

What is true is that people who post online shouldn’t automatically expect to be the next big thing. Competition and the forces of natural/artificial selection still apply.
