I detest nothing more than people with a little bit of power who say one thing publicly and do another privately. This has nothing to do with political ideology. I have no love for either the right or the left. This story today is about hypocrisy. Pure and simple. I am not claiming to have any insider information here. All I know is what I was able to find online with a simple Google search. I will leave it up to you to decide whether this is hypocrisy or not.Talkers Magazine rates Michael Savage as the #3 conservative radio talk show host in the country right behind Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. He is a regular and vehement critic of the porn industry. According to radio industry writer Brad Kava, Savage has gone on record saying that 9/11 was a response to the pornography feared by the Muslim world.
I recently caught a quick glimpse of a “Girls Gone Wild” infomercial from a couple of years ago. I noticed there were many product placement moments throughout the infomercial for Rockstar Energy Drink, in between shots of teenage girls making out with each other and flashing for the Girls Gone Wild cameras. I then remembered reading an article a while back about how Michael Savage’s son, Russell Goldencloud Weiner, was the founder and CEO or Rockstar Energy Drink. After listening to Michael Savage scream about pornography on a number of occasions over the years, I thought to myself, could conservative right wing radio’s Michael Savage actually have a family business connection to the porn industry? I decided to do a little online research myself to see if this could possibly be true. You be the judge…
Below is a link to an interview with Weiner from 2004 which references his father as being Michael Savage. The interview also mentions that Savage’s wife and Russell’s mother, Janet Wiener, was the CFO of Rockstar Energy Drink.
Below is a link from the Detroit News website which advertises the “Penthouse Magazine and Rockstar Energy Drink Present Party Like a Rockstar” Super Bowl party back in 2006.
I copied the screencap below from the GirlsGoneWild.com website right before they removed all mention or trace of Rockstar from their site. I even bookmarked a bunch of Girls Gone Wild infomercial clips from YouTube that featured the Rockstar Energy Drink product placement. I was going to post them here today, but all of the videos have suddenly been removed from YouTube.
Below is a link to radio writer Brad Kava’s blog, who I mentioned at the top of this post. He has a picture of Russell Weiner and Rod Stewart posing together at the “Evening of Decadent Dreams” party at the Playboy Mansion. That party was sponsored by Rockstar Energy Drink.
I know we’re not talking about a scandal here on par with revealing classified government documents or finding photos of Ryan Sechrest blowing a donkey. However, we live in a day and age where our personal freedoms are deteriorating faster than a stack of baby wipes at a Skeeter Kerkove shoot. It is truly important to the cause of free speech to continue to expose all instances of moral hypocrisy by the so-called leaders in our society who have the ability to influence millions of voters and the passing of key privacy rights legislation.
