When it comes to personal rights and freedoms as an abstract thing, it’s pretty hard to get people riled up. Try to make it harder to pirate porn and Hollywood movies, and they are up in arms, dancing around, and shutting down their websites in protest (Wikipedia is in the process of losing a lot of credibility on this issue).

Freedom is abstract to most people. Stealing stuff isn’t.
