This is what the police call ‘rescue’: San Mateo cops discover brothel, arrest 2 sex workers

The San Mateo Police Department said it arrested two sex workers at an apartment on Bridgepointe Parkway following an investigation where residents reported “possible prostitution activity” to investigators.

San Mateo PD said its Crime Reduction Unit served a search warrant at the location Friday and determined it was operating as a brothel.

Posting about the crime, police showed items believed to be recovered from the apartment, which included hundreds of dollars in cash.

Police said it received several calls to its dispatch center and anonymous tip line which made them aware of the situation.

In a social post announcing the arrests, the San Mateo Police Department wrote “this is a perfect example of ‘if you see something, say something’ working.”

“As we always say, our community are the extra sets of eyes and ears we need to combat crime and quality of life issues. This case was brought to our attention by concerned residents who reported it to both our Dispatch and via our anonymous tip line,” police said.

There is no word yet on what charges the two individuals face.
