Ted Kaczynski, also known as the Unabomber, was an American domestic terrorist, mathematician, and social critic.
Kaczynski is widely known for his 17–year long campaign of mail bombings. Three people killed and injured over twenty more. Terror struck America from 1978 to 1995. Ted was eventually captured in 1996, and in 1998, he was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Kaczynski was born in 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in the suburbs of Evergreen Park and attended Harvard University from 1958 to 1962.
During his childhood, Theodore Kaczynski was an exceptionally intelligent and talented student, being accepted to Harvard at the age of 16.
While attending Harvard, he earned a PhD in mathematics. After leaving Harvard, Kaczynski returned to the Chicago area to teach mathematics at the University of California at Berkeley. From 1967 to 1969, The Unabomber suffered from mental and emotional problems, so he decided to retreat into total isolation. Ted moved to a secluded cabin in the forest in Lincoln, Montana, and lived there for nearly 25 years. Kaczynski developed his violent anti–technology views, and began carrying out his campaign of mail bombings and terror. Mr Kaczynski termed “Unabom” (an acronym for the university and airline targets he sought to target).
