The old Winston Churchill joke on how to determine if a woman is a prostitute. That one gets me every time. He had some gems in his day, especially considering he woke up blowing a .20 and just got more drunk as the day wore on. People are STILL talking about when piracy goes away? Its not gonna happen. They need to figure out new business models to make money. Music figured out how to make money by charging $1.29 a song. Porn will have to do the same. Cam work and live sex shows are also viable options but the sites charging $30 or more a month for a few updates are gonna starve to death. People just are not gonna pay that much for porn when they can get it for free. There is a whole generation of internet users that are used to free porn and will never pay $30 a month.

@mdxxx I think that you have a fair view, if you mean selling scenes for $1 if they run and curate their own website. Honestly, not a bad idea. I watched an interview on France24 where a guy in the music industry, had to explain to the big wigs why it was important to include a “free” option on paid sites. And that the free option eventually leads to money (he was a part of spotify) and low subscription costs are a useful tool for ethical people to pay for product. Because, its gonna be free eventually and artists might as well catch that revenue while they can.

However, I do not think its possible to defeat piracy. The internet is here to stay, and the only real way to defeat “piracy” is through systematic control of the internet, which is used by authoritarian regimes. I think the key is to work out a way to generate revenue despite piracy.
