When I first read this, I couldn’t believe it. But how can you really argue with the numbers.
According to new data released by the adult entertainment website Pornhub, people would rather watch “Game of Thrones” than people having sex. (Although the HBO series has plenty of that, too.)
The highly anticipated debut episode of the HBO series drew over 16 million viewers on Sunday night. While it was a great success for the show’s network, Pornhub saw a dramatic decrease in views with their traffic plummeting to 4.5 percent on their most popular night.
Corey Price, vice president of Pornhub, attributed the decline to a few factors, telling Fox News: “As is often the case with many events – Super Bowl, NBA Finals, Comey/Sessions testimonies, Coachella, etc., people prefer watching said events in real time.”
“And, quite honestly, who could blame them? Pornhub will always be around.”
Adult entertainment company Exile Entertainment President Howard Levine is not concerned that the series will negatively impact the adult industry in the long run.
“I don’t think we are in any danger from ‘Game of Thrones’ or any other mainstream show substituting adult [entertainment] for mainstream programming,” Levine said.
Price agreed.
“As soon as ‘Game of Thrones’ was finished, traffic levels returned back to normal, as they always do.”
