ASN Lifestyle Magazine has issued an official statement regarding recent social media posts regarding this week’s AVN Adult Entertainment Expo and the 42nd annual AVN Awards Show.
ASN Lifestyle Magazine is committed to the Lifestyle community to promote healthy living and experiences. We are not a trade group, labor organization, or political advocacy group.
In keeping with our passionate belief in the individual’s right to self-determination and free expression, the matter of whether or not anyone attends, promotes or participates in any event or gathering is something we feel should be left to that person’s own judgment and conscience. Our role is to share information and encourage positive experiences.
Recently, we have been contacted by multiple parties about derogatory and inflammatory statements (to put it mildly) made online by Ron Moore Zaragoza regarding AVN Media Network, the Adult Entertainment Expo and the AVN Awards, in regards to the current strike at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Moreover, he has framed his remarks in a way that positions him as a defender of “female performers” and “working women” against “Patriarchy” in the form of AVN.
Although Ron Moore Zaragoza has contributed articles to our magazine, as referenced in his X bio, he is not employed by ASN or any of our affiliates, and he does not speak for ASN Lifestyle Magazine.
Ron Moore Zaragoza, like each of us, is entitled to his personal views, and we at ASN defend his right to express them. However, it is our sincere wish that, in the spirit of community, fewer insults and accusations would be thrown around by all concerned in the pursuit of their objectives.
Both women and men staff AVN, and the expo. Both women and men work as adult performers and content creators. Both women and men attend the expo. Both women and men are employed at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. This is a local labor dispute, not an episode of The Handmaiden’s Tale. Moreover, we are quite certain that the amazing, powerful women of the greater sex-positive community do not require a male defender.
The Lifestyle community, the adult entertainment industry, and sex workers across the globe face negativity, shaming and bullying on a daily basis. ASN supports open dialogue as a way to make society a kinder and more accepting place. We at ASN believe that no good cause is well-served by insults and histrionics.
