I can’t help but wonder if people really do believe their own hype.
I read a tweet by a male porn performer who claimed he was one of the most famous porn stars in the world. He’s not even close.
Then not much after, I read an article on Vice where a particular female performer talks about how frustrating it is that she isn’t featured by PornHub because she drives a lot of traffic.
I had heard of the girl in question before but I didn’t ever think she was that famous. But what do I know? That’s not really my area of expertise so I asked a friend who ran her Google search numbers, and as I suspected, she doesn’t have a big draw.
Both she and the male performer have less than a 1,000 searches per month. That means less than 1,000 people a month Google that performers name. The big named girls have numbers in the millions.
This isn’t something new. This ‘my shit don’t stink’ phenomenon has been around as long as there have been performers. People always tend to think they are far more famous than they really are.
Or do they? I can’t help but wonder if these people really believe the hype or are they just playing the marketing game?
Last month I was chatting with a new performer. She’s been in the industry just under a year. She was horribly upset because she can’t afford her rent.
“Things are slow right now”, I say to her to reassure her that it’s not just her.
She tells me that she needs to do at least 6 scenes a month to survive. During the course of my conversation with her, I realized she wanted those scenes, but she wasn’t really willing to do what it takes to get those scenes. She just expects to be on the roster of her agency and think those scenes should come to her because she’s pretty.
This girl has a ton of restrictions on what she will and won’t do. She also won’t bother to invest in hiring a publicist to get her name out there more. She also won’t bother going on any more go-sees because she did a handful already when she started in the industry last year.
Her only real means of promoting herself is on Twitter. And no she doesn’t tweet at or interact with directors on social media either — she just tweets random pics to her fans. She thinks that if directors want to know about her they can follow her. She thinks they should make the effort.
I just can’t wrap my mind around where this kind of attitude comes from. You want something, you say you need it, but you aren’t willing to work for it?
Times are tough right now. If you want work you have to put in the effort. You have to be willing to do whatever it takes. You can’t expect jobs to just drop in your lap. If you’ve been on go-sees before, go on them again. Do interviews. Go to industry events. Do what it takes to stand out in the crowd.
If you want the work, you have to work for it. There are fewer movies being shot today and there are more performers in the talent pool, all competing for those same jobs.

Supposedly Stormy Daniels was offered 900k to do UK’s Celebrity Big Brother and she accepted. Then 30 minutes before the show was scheduled to start she told them she wanted another for another 125k and they said “No” so she walked (according to some other web sites). If thats true she has gotta be pretty full of herself as well as greedy.
Good for Stormy, considering her name is being said on every News show during prime time hours. How many other Celebrities on Big Brother have that kind of press going on right now.
Also on that show are you not allowed to do social media or leave the place? Right now that would be a mistake. How much is she pulling in at the strip clubs a night? So was the money offered by Celebrity Big Brother over the same amount of time be comparable?
Good for Stormy for breaking her agreement? If a person is only as good as their word, what does that say about her?
Stormy is ridiculous. I’m tired of hearing about her. This won’t end well for her. Messing with Trump is never a good idea even though he’s a total tool.
Actually, she didn’t break the contract. Cohen did… He talked about it to the press which made it void. Plus Trump didn’t sign it. Can’t break something not signed by all parties involved.
Sam, I agree that if The Donald didn’t either sign the contract himself or the person signing it signed his name and had an appropriately written power of attorney there wasn’t a legal contract. However, it is stupid to antagonize the leader of the Free World — especially when he is the type that would use his control of the military to become the first Dictator of the USA. I think Stormy will pay dearly for not keeping her mouth shut, what is stopping The Donald from torturing her ass to death slowly and painfully when he gets in a jam with the Russian election interference investigation and is either civilly sued for everything he has or more likely criminally charged with aiding and abetting it. My understanding is that a US President can pardon himself but with prosecutors already saying they will fight it I think The Donald will find it easier and more expeditious just to eliminate our system of government altogether and become dictator using his control of the military — and guarantee hot little Trump chicklet Ivanka a job for life when he dies as the successor Dictator of the USA. If someone is a dictator of a country he doesn’t have to worry about the consequences of any of his actions and The Donald is just the kind of man that will do it — and Stormy will pay the ultimate price for not keeping her mouth shut! I just hope I am not around to live it (whether I am in another country at the time and just don’t come home or worse) — I don’t want to see the country I was born in and lived in most of my life becoming a literal Hell on Earth and who knows, The Donald could get pissed at something I have said and hang me by my wrists next to Stormy (also hanging from her wrists), naked, frightened and involuntarily waiting to be caned Singapore style then have our heads crushed in a vice while alive and fully conscious, we all know I have made a lot of derisive comments about The Donald over the years (making me almost as stupid as Stormy but at least I didn’t blab on how “good” The Donald is in bed and go on CNN to do it). I am also a man, women respond more severely emotionally to torture and purposely inflicted pain. Stormy also has little kids, I don’t. Rape is also an option to torture women, most men can’t get it up to rape another man and women don’t have the necessary plumbing (and usually aren’t tapped to torture political enemies, anyway) — meaning Stormy might be in even more trouble than if she were a man with then newly installed Dictator The Donald’s equivalent of the Nazi German SS.
