The tragic death of Dave Slick: syringes found near the body

Gay porn star Dave Slick of Scottsdale, AZ, a top webcam model on Chaturbate and exclusive performer for Falcon Studios, died tragically under odd circumstances this weekend in Chicago, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed.

According to police, “foul play is not suspected,” reports local paper the Daily Herald.

Although Slick was found dead Friday morning, he was not reported missing from the Exxxotica Expo convention he was attending in northwest suburban Rosemont until more than a day later.

After contacting the medical examiner’s office, investigators learned that Slick had in Chicago.

The Herald reported that Slick was reported missing at 2:29 p.m. local time on Saturday. He was last seen alive at 1:00 a.m. Friday morning in Chicago. Police said his phone was last used at around 8 a.m. Friday.

Slick as found unresponsive and not breathing at around 11:25 a.m. Friday in the restroom of the Qdoba Mexican restaurant at 175 W. Jackson St. near the Wells Street Terminal, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Slick was transported to nearby Rush University Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead less than 15 minutes later.

Police said syringes were found inside the bathroom. The Medical Examiner’s Office said the cause and manner of death is pending, as Chicago police are conducting a death investigation.

In a September 2017 interview with trade periodical XBiz, Slick said he was sober after battling substance abuse in the past.

  1. May Dave RIP. 25 is way too young to pass on. Hopefully Dave is in a better place now and can have a jolly good time in Heaven for the rest of eternity.

I personally can’t stand to watch guy on guy porn but there is a market for it and there should be media coverage of that genre. I am glad to see we now have a reporter that can handle covering that end of the adult film industry. Maybe this site will get more readers if gay porn is covered (although not at the expense of straight/lesbian/BDSM industry news and issues).

  2. Thank you. It’s not like we’ve consciously shied away from it, but I think one has to recognize that it is a different “culture”, if I may use that word.

I believe that all human beings deserve the same fundamental rights and liberties, and the same respect, and my coverage usually focuses on that aspect. However, it’s an open secret that drug use is a major part of the dominant “culture” for young gay men in the U.S., and it’s a problem. An actual, medical problem; I’m a libertarian so I don’t care what anyone puts into their own body — it’s not a political problem or issue to me. But it’s a real world problem when we see young men dying like this.

It’s a touchy issue. I don’t want to be insensitive about it, and I certainly don’t claim to have the answers, but I believe it needs to be pointed out.

  3. It’s truly sad all these porn stars and cam models are dying no matter what their sexual orientation. Hopefully this will stop.

  4. I don’t argue with your comment, Cosmo. I just thought it was appropriate to point out that before Voice no one was covering the gay side of adult film except maybe the very occasional article by this site’s namesake and one gay performer that filed a once weekly report for the AVN website in the mid 2000’s — I don’t recall his name off the top of my head or I would give it. That is to their detriment, someone from the gay end of adult should have stepped forward years ago to report on their end of the industry, it shouldn’t have been essentially left out of the conversation for at least 35 years (no, I am not making a claim on Voice’s sexuality — I just think they were slighted and someone from that side of the industry should have done what no journalist, director or performer from the straight side was willing to do or capable of doing). Voice is controversial as referenced in a not so nice manner by several commenters (for the record he/she can give it back as hard as people give it to him/her, it would be interesting although probably not professional to hear what he/she would have said and how he/she would have said it to at least one person commenting on this site if he/she wasn’t now a journalist and therefore needing to keep things relatively clean) but I think he/she is in the vein of Mike South himself as to the tradition of this site. They don’t agree on everything (isn’t that everyone) — I don’t intend to say otherwise but the different voices now on this site are in the tradition of this website and to the benefit of the industry, it’s fans and the press as a whole.

In other ramblings, hopefully Voice is a large, well endowed, muscular man, Sam Langhorne is actually a Samantha and a hot chick and there is a hot, steamy BDSM porno upcoming from them. That would also be in the tradition of this site — Mike South was a producer, director and performer; Kelli Roberts is a producer, Lindsey Lovehands and Julie Meadows were also performers. It would be nice to further that tradition somehow. I know I am dreaming but in a more perfect world. . . 🙂

  5. MHarris, I agree with your assessment in having some representation of the genre. Thanks, Voice. For example, is there ANOTHER gay production company aside from Falcon? 🙂 I have a feeling their influence and output is massive and that is why they are involved in so many stories, and perhaps also they are more communicative than other companies. I’m not seriously taking a dig at anything, just seemed funny over the years.

  6. Spawn, there is a list at the bottom of this page: https://bit.ly/2tbeZM7 . It isn’t completely accurate (it lists Bang Bros which is definitely NOT a gay porn company, it also lists Kink.com which did some gay content until a year or so ago but no longer produces much in that genre, I don’t even think they produce tranny porn on a regular basis anymore) but it is probably good enough for this purpose. I think that list is correct enough where I can claim there are at least 20 gay porn production companies in the world (gay including male to M to F tranny).

  7. Is there any more news on this? You have more info here than XBIZ or AVN does.

  8. Waiting on the Medical Examiner’s report.

mharris127 — Large where it counts, buddy.
