Utah’s anti-porn bill just cleared the legislature

Despite the fact that Utah has one of the highest rates of porn consumption in the United States, it has officially declared porn a public health crisis.

And a bill allowing lawsuits against porn suppliers for harming minors has just cleared the Utah legislature.

Again, Utah has always had abnormally high amount of porn consumption. So why are they so against it publicly?

The short answer is, the church.

Most Utah state legislators are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and that one of the most frequently cited figures in their anti-porn campaign is nothing more than “pseudoscience” which comes from Donald Hilton, a Mormon neurosurgeon.

In other words, to get the state to approve their agenda they had their people make up their own scientific facts. Nice, huh? Who needs real science or real facts when you can just make shit up?

The reality is there is no scientific evidence to back up Utah’s claims. In fact, some might even argue, just the opposite.

A 2015 study in the journal Psychology of Addictive Behaviors found that, although pornography use itself is “relatively unrelated to psychological distress,” believing you are “addicted to Internet pornography” is associated with depression, anxiety, anger, and stress.

More details as this story develops.
