Penthouse may be bought by Areva Capital, new owner of The Advocate

Who will Penthouse screw over next? Let’s just hope it won’t be you.

We recently reported that Penthouse is sending Marcia Hase to Sexpo Australia, but will she be paid for her time?

Penthouse didn’t bother paying the girls they sent last year, they also promised to reimburse them for the cost of the airline ticket and related passport fees. All still unpaid.

If they didn’t pay their talent from last year’s AVN, or Sexpo – who is to say they will this time?

I mean sure they have a new owner, but they’ve had a new owner more than a few times now, and that hasn’t stopped them from screwing over almost every agent in town including Mark Spiegler, the very agent who booked Marcia Hase for this Penthouse deal at Sexpo Australia.

Spiegler knows from experience about getting fucked out of money because guess what? They owed him money too! He was one of the many agents that didn’t get paid when they filed for bankruptcy last year.

So one can’t help but understand why he or any agent would be stupid enough to go back into business with Penthouse after they have proven themselves to be so untrustworthy?

I mean, what kind of agent puts their talent at that kind of risk?

Earlier this month the courts decided that Penthouse was so poorly mismanaged, the company couldn’t be saved and as a result, the company was auctioned off to the highest bidder.

When this happened, all the unsecured debts were wiped away by the bankruptcy courts. This means any of those people in our industry that was owed money, is fucked as the company is now legally no longer liable for the debt. Any of the money made from the auction was paid to the bankruptcy courts, the IRS and the one secured debtor, who was owed something near $10 million.

Everyone else is left with a big fat nothing.

What did Kelly Holland have to say about all those people who will now never see a dime of the hard earned money that Penthouse owed them?

“I am thrilled with the outcome of the court-approved auction yesterday,” she told AVN. “For the first time in 20 years, Penthouse has the opportunity to operate debt free and to focus on growing and expanding the iconic Penthouse brand worldwide.”

Not only did she say she was happy the company was now debt free, meaning all those porn stars, agents, and webmasters would never be paid — but they also brought champagne to work to celebrate.

Imagine how you would feel if you go to work every day for weeks, or in some cases months but never got paid.

Would suck, right?

Now imagine how it would feel if the people who didn’t pay you spent money celebrating the fact that the courts aren’t going to make them pay you and there was nothing you could do about it.

When it was all said and done Penthouse really fucked over a lot of people – including almost every agent in town. I’m really surprised just how fast some people are to turn a blind eye to that fact.

Sad really.
