The Condom Law Goes Before The Appropriations Committee On Wednesday

The Appropriations Committee Hearing for the condom law has been set for this coming Wednesday. As most of you recall this is where the law got shot down last time by a single vote from Committee chair Mike Gatto, who was accused afterwards of dirty dealing because he wouldn’t even let it go to a vote.

A robo call campaign was set up in his district to apply pressure and this being an election year it’ll be interesting to see if he will block the bill again.

You can listen to these hearings online, I will post a link for it as it gets closer to Wednesday

  1. @Mike –
I’m still kinda half asleep so this may sound ridiculous, but a robo call campaign was set up to apply pressure for or against the bill?

  2. I just hope Wednesday is the day finally and the Bill passes.
Sick and tired of all those diseases and infections and my
    friends being infected and sick.

I told everybody on twitter when the last outbreaks happened that
we need to get rid of the crossovers and better testing and condoms a
must. A lot of people didn’t like that. Oh well, its finally coming.

  3. my bad that was ambiguous the robo call campaign was done last year to put pressure on Gatto….one would expect he may still feel a sting from that depending on what kind of response it generated.

  4. Had a good chuckle over AVN article putting the scare out there that latest AB1576 amendment would or could expose 2257 documentation. Oops…if that were to happen it could only be the result of producers careless handling and not following 2257 requirements to maintain those records and documentation totally separate.

All this push back against the amendment which actually addresses concerns raised to the legislature by opponents is hysterical. Seems self-regulation is fine until someone asks for proof of compliance with the very measures the industry designed.

Performers are told by the FSC and it’s barkers that PASS protects their medical privacy while screaming from the rooftop that this amendment will violate it? WTF? PASS where any Tom, Dick or Harry can not only see that performer took cash out their pocket to get tested but gets information about those results via go/no check marks are being told that proof the producer paid for the test and date without the check marks to DIR will violate their medical privacy?

The only thing that is gonna violate is producer pockets that think and say performers and the public ought to pay for their business expenses. This goes to the heart of my comment that Truvada sounds great but whose gonna pay for it?

You can bet that the FSC and it’s barkers will be loud and proud about the CDC Truvada approval at hearing Wednesday to try and mitigate not only the amendment but the entire bill.

Truvada as a PPE (personal protective equipment) is a business expense and unless FSC starts talking about its gonna get paid for you can bet they expect performers or the public to pick up the tab as a personal choice to perform in porn. You can bet these very stakeholders would be loud and proud against picking up the tab for Chase Bank healthcare or ergonomic chairs!

  5. The only sure way for Truvada to work effectively is with Condoms.
That is a lot of money for trying to prevent HIV exposure and without
condoms it doesn’t lessen the chance of infecting with HIV.
