An Then They Came For Me

Is anyone concerned that the governor called a special session to find ways to “fill in” a budget deficit that currently sits at 11.2 billion dollars? We will all be affected by the sales tax increase of 1.5% but the bigger problem is that we don’t have a lobbyist in there and one of the brilliant pieces of duct tape that was proposed was a tax increase on all “amusement” services. What’s more amusing than porn?

It was only four months ago that AB2914 was defeated, a bill that planned to increase taxes on our industry anywhere from 8.3-25%. Luckily, we had an aggressive lobbyist who was able to keep it under control this time around. Newsflash: He’s not working for us anymore and no one has replaced him. That gives a bunch of desperate legislators free reign to pass whatever they’ll let each other get away with while we sit around with our thumbs up our asses. Or dildos. Whatever sells. It’s politically incorrect to defend the sex industry so if we’re not paying someone to do it then it won’t get done.

Just my two cents.
