Can you really get paid to watch porn? Is that a real thing?

You might have heard lately that starting at the end of this week, you can get paid to watch porn. But is it legit? Is this really even a thing?

Turns out, it’s true. Well, it will be after the official launch of Vice Industry Token on June 28th.

Vice Industry Token is a cryptocurrency and works just like other cryptocurrencies, in that each “token” has a value, just like Bitcoin or Ethereum.

You can take these “tokens” and sell them for real money. Each token has a different value that varies day by day, depending on various market factors. As of this posting, a single Bitcoin (BTC) is worth $6,159.42, while an Ethereum coin (or token whatever you want to call it) is worth $440,36. You can keep up with the value of the some odd 1,590 cryptocurrencies by clicking here.

As you see, the values of each of the cryptocurrencies go up and down each day. Vice Industry Token works the same way. When it launches you’ll be able to buy and sell them on the open markets just like you can Bitcoins.

But you can also earn them for free for watching porn and yes, very soon also through commenting on this website!

Vice Industry Token officially launches on June 28th and we’ll be tokenizing this website just after. We will officially be the first website to install Vice Industry Token where all of you guys will be making money to comment on our posts.

  1. No way. Kelly Holland is out. I checked into it myself and verified she is totally not a part of VIT anymore.

  2. Not that I was looking to be paid to comment but how will this work (I knew nothing about this until I read the above article)? Will the token payment be made by the number of comments, the number of letters or words in a comment or some other method of tallying up tokens. Also, how will the payment be made — can we have whatever the value of these tokens on the day we cash them in sent to our bank accounts or do we have to wait for paper checks and if I take five years to cash my tokens in do I lose them — most of my investments are on autopilot and I simply read the quarterly statements to verify that nothing untoward is going on and file them away, that is how I would likely treat this investment account as well? It should be noted that I haven’t invested in cryptocurrencies so this is new to me. I am flabbergasted that it is monetarily possible from a business standpoint to pay for commenting or watching porn but I am very interested in seeing how this plays out — especially the being paid to watch porn and how they deal with copyright issues as usually we have to pay for porn, not be paid to watch it. If the copyright issues are taken care of I would be willing to be paid to watch porn — maybe something similar to the old practice of sending review samples of DVDs to people for viewing and reviewing — if a company making porn that I like in general offered me $1 or $2 worth of these tokens to watch and review a movie that I would like to see anyway I would be willing to review 3-5 movies a month. The Pornhub model doesn’t work for me as I want to know that the copyright issues have been taken care of legally (an example of this is Lee Roy Myers’ Wood Rocket — the movies are legal and free to watch and he actually posts to Pornhub — videos watched from his site even have the Pornhub logo at the bottom right hand side) and how in the hell do you tell the difference as things currently are (I will leave that debate to a more appropriate article’s comments section)?

Another concern is will this site turn into a spam fest with people commenting bull shit just to get tokens? Depending on what the value of the tokens this could be a moderating nightmare. If we get quality posts that expand the discussion I am all for it but if this site turns into 100 spam posts to one quality post it will turn those of us that want to have a discussion of an article off quickly. I am cautiously optimistic about this but the people now running this site do need to consider the possible problems that could come up.

  3. How it works is pretty simple … once it gets set up, you can then associate your account with a crypto wallet, of which your earnings will be paid into – I think weekly.

As far as spam goes, we have some built-in features that should counter that but as with anything new, there will always be a period of adjustment.

As far as the porn watching goes, it’s pretty simple – the same concept. You log into a website like say Stormy Daniels official website and watch her videos. The more you engage, ie: watch, comment, upvote, the more you’ll earn. The more valuable your account is (as in the more active), the more your vote will be worth.

I honestly don’t know the exact formula as to exactly how each fraction of a token is earned, but I do know it shows up in the “wallet” section under your account here at Mike South, which will appear once we get it all set up. Then you’ll be able to track how much you’ve earned and then use any crypto exchange you prefer to sell off your tokens for cash if and when you so desire.

I don’t know if voting power carries over from one site to the next, but I think that it does. So say if you have a lot of voting power here on Mike South, in theory, that would carry over to Stormy Daniels website.

  4. What is going on with this tokenization project? Even if they decided this site didn’t qualify I am curious to see what happens with it. I see they are giving away tokens to winners of an upcoming awards show so they are evidently still planning on starting this.

  5. MikeSouth.com will soon be tokenized with VIT! In the very near future, we will enable you to GET PAID for liking and commenting on posts. I wished I had a specific date for you but sadly I was so busy today dealing with chasing down another story I wasn’t able to stop and call to get a solid date for us. 🙁

  6. Thank you for responding, Kelli. Good luck on the chase for your next article. VIT is a very interesting concept that could theoretically change the industry as we know it. I have been expecting the business model for the industry to change drastically and this plus advertising could create “tube sites” that aren’t stealing anything, producers making money for their work again and with the tokenization added to the mix there will be incentive for current “viewers” of porn on the tubes to start watching their porn legally again with being able to actually make a dime or two (or more if the underlying cybercurrency really takes off) off of doing what they were anyway the lure. Most viewers won’t object to a couple of commercials between each scene (especially with gonzo movies) if they are making money from watching them.
